[Dovecot] Change in delivery directory during 2.0.2->2.0.3 upgrade

In upgrading from 2.0.2 to 2.0.3, Dovecot deliver has started putting new emails into user@host/.user@host/new instead of user@host/new. This change was reversed by downgrading to 2.0.2, so it's due to the minor version change. [Dovecot] mbox vs maildir

I've had clients 'request' nested folders, and it would seem that maildir is designed with that ability while with mbox it is difficult and.or impossible to implement (nested can be achieved; but not nested AND populated in each nest level). My question is, is one format 'better' than the other? It would take a fair bit of time to convert my system to maildir and I would want to feel comfortable that this would be a true 'upgrade' in abilities, rather than simply a change to accommodate nested folders. [Dovecot] moving 1.2.13 system to another hard drive

Hi, I am not very experienced with Dovecot (1,2,13) installed on Debian sid. I have just set up a new system on a new hard drive on the same computer. fetchmail is correctly putting mail in /var/mail/<username>. I have copied my entire Maildir directory from the old hard drive. I have made what changes I understood to dovecot.conf. Dovecot was working on the other drive even though I'm not completely sure how I got it working before. Any ideas for debugging this certainly simple problem for some of you. TIA, Paul Scott

Hello, I just migrated from Postfix/Courier/Maildrop to Postfix/Dovecot/Deliver/Sieve and don't unterstand the right syntax for sieve :( I searched and found many small examples and many links to the RFC, but nothing was usefull for me (or i didn't unterstand it) I installed the latest Dovecot-Sieve (hg). [Dovecot] dsync to move from 1.2 to 2.0

I'm not certain of the correct syntax for this - and I'm reluctant to risk my live data by experimenting. I've setup a 2.0.2 server on a virtual machine, and I want to copy a live account over to it for testing. Not that it should matter, but the 1.2 machine is using maildir and I want to give sdbox a try on 2.0.2. I'm assuming (dangerous, I know) I should run dsync on the new 2.0.2 machine, and connect remotely to the 1.2. If it matters, my usernames are complete mail addresses, i.e. myname(a)mydomain.com, and are stored as /var/mail/domain/name/Maildir. Does dsync perform an imap connection to the remote server to pull the mails? Or am I confusing this with imapsync? -- Daniel
