With The dict {} and expire-related parts commented out, operation has no errors or delays; performance is exceptional with maildir, quota, sieve, and managesieve. I don't think managesieve would patch any part of the dictionary code as it only has to do with another service process, not a plugin; if the patching was to cause problems with other services, for the service definition coding, the other services would have a problem, correct? The expires dictionary mysql table was being correctly used, with one day of use, as there are 10000 records; I'm going to have to revise the mysql indexes for performance in case I am able to fix the dictionary problem. We like the 1.2.13 version of dovecot, as far as security, and wonder how I can find a correct defintion scripting for the dict {}, from a previous version, and merge. We are use to windows compilations. I am skeptical to go to dovecot 2.0 as our services are in production and 2.0 is beta. I have recompiled several times with fresh sources of dovecot 1.2.13, managesieve 0.11.11 patchl, and sieve 1.0.17 as directed by the Dovecot Wiki. Jerrale G, SCA

Unless release critical bugs are reported, I'll update the version number to v2.0.0 on Monday morning without any other changes. Since rc5 there have been mainly some small fixes and some error message improvements. The only (somewhat) important fixes are: - dict quota didn't always decrease quota when messages were expunged - Shared INBOX wasn't always listed with FS layout

[Dovecot] Maildir over NFS

I'm working on bring up a new mail server to replace our current one. Our current mail server is running dovecot 1.1.16, with postfix using mbox format. User inboxes are stored locally on the mail server and all other mail folders in users home directory under mail which is NFS mounted on the mail server. For our new mail server I'm looking to switch to the Maildir format. Some years ago I remember reading that it was not recommended to run Maildir format over NFS. Now I'm looking at several posts that seem to indicate that Maildir should run fine over NFS. I'm a little concerned about running Maildir over NFS, especially from the howto conversion pages I read would move all messages over to the User ~/Maildir folder including the inbox. So having every single mail transaction going over NFS doesn't seem the smart thing to do. So question I have for the dovecot team, does running Maildir over NFS work well? Or would you recommend that all user mail folders be stored locally on the mail server when using Maildir? We have about 3400 users, doing about 30k mail deliveries daily. Some users have 10's of thousands of mail messages in hundreds of mail folders. Thanks... -- C. J. [Dovecot] quota_warning bug?

Hi, Today I was testing with dovecot 2.0 rc5 and experienced some odd behaviour with quota_warning rules. It's reproducable. When I set a rule (this one simply writes some message to a text file) and go over quota (2 messages in this case), it works as expected. But if I restart my client, remove one message, restart my client again and remove the last message from my inbox, it executes the warning rule again. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I tested with the debian package dovecot_2.0.rc5-0~auto+8 found in rename-it.nl's repository. Thanks. Best regards, Jeroen Koekkoek
