Hello, iam interested in using dbox format with dovecot2. Ist it possible to use shared folders with this storage format? i only see references to Maildir. Thanks, Hajo

[Dovecot] doveadm mailbox create -7 … returns 0

Hi Timo, I'm using doveadm in my script to create [sm]dboxes. For some reason I forgot to remove the -7 option in my script. I wondered why no mailboxes were created and the script didn't report an error - it checks the exit status from doveadm. [Dovecot] NFS Maildirs

Hi, We have our user homedirs on nfs so I enabled nfs parameters in dovecot.conf. Everything works fine but when I want to delete a homedir of a user I can't delete it because I can't remove the .nfs files in the Maildir. I don't want to stop dovecot, remove the homedir and start dovecot. Is there another way to accomplish this. [Dovecot] Applemail did not sync when MailTags enabled

Hi I run dovecot 1.2.11. One of my users turned on MailTags in his AppleMail with the effect that he could not anymore synchronize his imap folders. No error message, just endless waiting. Has anybody experienced a similar behaviour? Thanks John

[Dovecot] Feature request: usernames and passwords

A relatively recent development that spammers got wind of is users that have username==password, with/without the domain. I am tracking numerous 1-off attempts from bots to gain access to mailboxes this way. Situation isn't made any better if you're also using dovecot as SMTP AUTH provider for I am ashamed to admit I've relayed some spam that way. Would it be possible to deny login if username==password with a (non?)polite/custom message to go change your password to something less obvious ?

[Dovecot] Dovecot 2.0 progress?

Hi, Been having a look at the roadmap on the wiki for Dovecot 2.0 and I was wondering how that's progressing? Are you able to offer a guesstimate on how far it is from stable Timo? Just asking because we're moving to new servers soon and I'm considering using the opportunity to switch from Dovecot/Maildrop/Maildir to Dovecot/deliver/mdbox if 2.0 is likely to be reasonably safe to use in the next month or so. Hi In http://wiki.dovecot.org/Variables I found: %s service imap, pop3, smtp, deliver and that can be use in userdb and SQL query string. How exactly can I use %s in the query string if I want for ex to disable a service (just one service - ex pop3) for a specific user. Alex

Hello, I have a lot of domains in a mail server, so I make a balanced allocation of mailboxes in the storage disks. That improves performance of access to records. Therefore, I want to overwrite 'mail_location' directive for each user. But I also want to use the modifier 'H' to spray the mailboxes of the same partition in a hash. Then, each user has your own 'mail_location' that I would like load from database. Like this: mdbox:/var/spool/imap/partition1/%256HRu/%u:INDEX=/var/lib/imap/user/% 256HRu/%u partition1 is in range [partition1 .. partiton7] In my tests the '%256HRu/%u' kind of 'mail_location' is not being interpreted by Dovecot.
