Your argument is bogus - see above... again, a basic, properly configured firewall has negligible impact on pretty much any systems resources, even ancient ones... So, yeah, enabling a firewall on a mail server is essentially free, whether talking impact on system resources, or dollar cost. -- Best regards, Charles

[Dovecot] Performance issue about maildir path.

Hi, all. Normally, i use 'domain.ltd/username/Maildir' as users' maildir path, if i change them to hash style, e.g. 'A0/B0/domain.ltd/C0/D0/username/Maildir', will it speed up the index operation for MDA? Has anyone used Toltec to connect Outlook to Dovecot hosted message stores? Primary advantage over Bynari is price - $14 per client. I have used it with Kolab and been very happy.

I'm using maildrop to filter mail like: xfilter "/usr/bin/spamc" xfilter "/usr/bin/bogofilter -ep" I want to change to deliver (so I can use sieve) but can deliver do this?

[Dovecot] confused about deliver

I have dovecot serving a maildir in ~/Mail.imap. In Mail.imap I have cur/ new/ tmp/ .maillist1/ .maillist1/cur .maillist1/new .maillist1/tmp ... I made a sieve script, which looks like: require "fileinto"; if header :is "Subject" "test" { fileinto "test"; } ... with no final else clase. When mail is delivered to a maillist, caught by my sieve script, it goes into the correct subdir of maildir. But, when not caught by the script, I get: Dec 14 11:53:27 localhost deliver(nbecker): msgid=<d9f848520812140850q190f104fva5f586e43fa03994(a)mail.gmail.com>: saved mail to INBOX I can't find this mail saved to INBOX. There are no modified directories under maildir that I can find. Where did this mail go? I wanted it to go into the toplevel cur/, which is where my client finds them.

Hi, Do you any good SIEVE resources for a poor beginnner ? I'd to translate some of my current procmail rules into SIEVE. I have, for example, a "generic" rule that is able to sort almost any message from/to a mailing-list into a dedicated folder -i.e one rule for almost all my lists. Any recomendation ? Thank you

The changes include: Scalability and performance: allow pop/imap mail processes to handle multiple clients larger listen queues Stability and maintenance: fix to allow cross-compilation workarounds for Mac OS X bugs a couple general bug fixes symbol conflict resolution Features: Open Directory integration back off after failed auth attempts Mac OS X-specific handle dynamic host name changes I could contribute these as one giant patch or as a sequence of discrete patches. How would you prefer to receive them?

Hi, I am using SIEVE to filter/sort my incoming mails. I am subscribed to tens of mailing lists and I would like to file messages into folder of this pattern: INBOX/list/<tld>/<domain name>/<list name> So for example help-gnu-emacs(a)gnu.org would be filed under: INBOX/list/org/gnu/help-gnu-emacs The problem is Dovecot is telling me that this mailbox name is invalid. What can I do ? Cheers
