[Dovecot] Overquota bounce

Hi all, I have implemented a mail system with postfix and dovecot as LDA. Users who have exceeded their quota when receiving messages dont'see the message bounced. As I said previous my mail, if I don't set any value in "Root folder path" option, my sent mails are stored in main "sent items" of Outlook Express. These mails aren't stored "sent items" of imap section. [Dovecot] Root folder path problem

I use dovecot1.x. for imap on qmail. I also use OExpress to receive my mails. My sent mails is stored in main "sent items" of Outlook Express. Therefore I set "INBOX" in "Root folder path" option. But when I send an email to anywhere the mail sends without problem but I am getting an error as following; Some of the messages in your Outbox Folder could not be copied to your Sent Items. How can I correct that ? Thanks

[Dovecot] Using tags instead of folders?

Hi, currently most people store their messages in some sort of folder hierarchy, so that they can find them later easily. Here, for example, mails that are connected to a project are being stored in /CompanyName/ProjectNumber folders. Now I was wondering if there is any reason against using tags instead of a folder hierarchy, because tags are better when it comes to mails that belong to multiple projects (maybe even belonging to multiple companies) at once. All mails could then be stored in one folder/mailbox, fulltext search indexing would work well. You could search for a tag that consists of the ProjectNumber and would get all mails that belong to that project, just as if you would have opened that folder in the old hierarchy. You could save this search as a 'Search Folder' (talking in Thunderbird terms). Then I looked at how Thunderbird implements those tags when using IMAP. It stores them as IMAP keywords. Dovecot stores the first 26 flags in the filename, because it will only use one letter. Mapping between client's tag name and the letter is being done in dovecot-keywords files (one for each mailbox). If there are more IMAP keywords than 26, they will be stored in the dovecot.index file. (http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/Maildir) Now imagine we want to have 1000s (maybe 10000s) of different tags (=IMAP keywords) - instead of folders. Can this be recommended? What happens if the index file gets corrupted for some reason? (I had to delete dovecot.index files before...). What happens if the Thunderbird profile breaks? What happens if we want to move on to another client? Are there other ways to implement 'tagging' instead of a hierarchy? [Dovecot] Certificate Server name!

I previously posted this message and made a type mistake. I wrote "imap.tib.com instead it should red "imap.example.com". I have corrected the message and am reposting it. SORRY. ----------------------------------------- Setup of Dovecot went smoothly. Now when I try to retrieve mail from the server, I get the following message: Security Error: Domain name mismatch You have attempted to establish a connection to "mail.tib.com" However, the security certificate presented belongs to "imap.example.com"..... It looks like the build problems with the flexible array members in Dovecot 1.1 and GCC 2.95 has been raised several times already on this list, but no one mentioned out that autoconf 2.61+ provides a macro to deal with these.

[Dovecot] Unknown dict module: db with expire plugin

Hello. I upgraded my dovecot to 1.1. I use the FreeBSD port. However, I can't use the expire plugin. See the error: Unknown dict module: db expire plugin: dict_init() failed I see on the mailing list another mail like this problem. And the problem is the imap library is not linked to libdb. Is there a solution? Have I to contact the FreeBSD maintainer to link the binary to the library? Thanks for your advices. Regards, -- - Nicolas.

Hi @ll i have somthing like namespace public { separator = / prefix = "public/" location = dbox:/usr/local/virtual/%d/public inbox = no list = yes subscriptions = yes hidden = no } which works nice if i set location = maildir:/usr/local/virtual/%d/public %d expansion works right with maildir but if user mailboxes are on dbox with public namespace too, dovecot produces %d directory on the filesystem in /usr/local/virtual/ ,instead of expansion named domainname directory at new user creation time invoked from mail by lda i guess its some config bug from me but i cant find somthing, same config with maildir works nice, maybe some variables differ using dbox ( ie. with home and location ) -- Best Regards MfG Robert Schetterer Germany/Munich/Bavaria
