[Dovecot] Dovecot authentication issue with postgresql

Good day, I am having trouble getting dovecot to authenticate using postgresql. For some reason, it fails on a PAM error, although I have specified pgsql as authentication? Here my setups: dovecot.conf: -- snip-- (not sure if you need teh rest) auth = digest_md5 auth_mechanisms = plain digest-md5 auth_userdb = pgsql /etc/dovecot-pgsql.conf auth_passdb = pgsql /etc/dovecot-pgsql.conf auth_user = root dovecot-pgsql.conf: connect = host=localhost dbname=postfix user=postfix password=postfix default_pass_scheme = MD5 password_query = SELECT password FROM mailbox WHERE username = '%u' user_query = SELECT '/var/spool/vmail/'||maildir AS home, uid, gid FROM mailbox WHERE username = '%u' I get an authentication error trying to log in. It queries the database for the password, but it does not seem to query for user? Logs: dovecot: dovecot-auth: Jul 05 05:14:41 Info: PAM: pam_authenticate(chrisj(a)topbilling.com) failed: Authentication failure messages: Jul 5 05:14:39 tophat dovecot(pam_unix)[2928]: check pass; user unknown Jul 5 05:14:39 tophat dovecot(pam_unix)[2928]: authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost= Any help will be greatly appreciated - the passwords are created using postfixadmin - I presume it is in MD5 format. [Dovecot] subscription to mail folders not working properly anymore with dovecot1.0x ?

Hi we run dovecot on sun solaris 9. I try to switch from dovecot 0.99.11 to dovecot 1.0, with ssl support turned on. The user's mail are stored in mbox format in Mail in their home dirs. I was not able to get the subscrition working properly with the new dovecot. New means: 1.0beta2 and now also 1.0.RC1 (beta9) The client mailreaders are mainly thunderbird 1.0x and 1.5.x, Netscape Messenger, and SquirrelMail for web access. The mail folder subscriptions stored in <usershome>/Mail/.subscriptions works fine with the dovecot 0.99.11. With dovecot_1.0 the subscriptions get properly read, but as soon as the user wants to make any changes to them (for example subscribing to a new folder out of thunderbird), the subscriptions get lost, the file <usershome>/Mail/.subscriptions simply disappears. Did I miss any point in the configuration? Or does someone else encounter the same problem? [Dovecot] Dovecot deliver logging problem and procmail

Hello! Currently I'm trying to integrate dovecot's deliver program into procmail. So basically I'd write a patch for procmail to deliver not directly into the mbox file but delivering with the dovecot deliver program. Do you think this is a good concept? For testing I use the commands discussed below. [Dovecot] Per-user Reply-To headers

Today (tonight..) I thought maybe I should see how easy this would be to implement: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1469343&group_id=1… So basically if enabled it'd add a "Reply-To: dovecot(a)dovecot.org" for the mails you *send* to this list. You can of course already do this yourself, but most clients don't support setting it automatically. I even managed to make it work: http://dovecot.org/tmp/mailman-2.1.8.replytolist.diff But should I actually enable it for Dovecot list? It'll probably break completely once Mailman 2.2/3.0 comes out (when does it come?) and I probably won't bother updating it then. And somehow I feel that the patch won't get accepted to upstream version..

And all I can is drag & drop messages for example from pop3 inbox to the imap inbox. But I can't drag & drop any folder from pop3 to imap account. [Dovecot] Bug: ThunderBird and dovecot 1rc1

Hello! It seems to me that correct deletion of message in thunderbird still doesn't work with ThanderBird and dovectot 1rc1. As I've said before messages are not removed phisically from filesystem, just marked for deletetion. Though I'm not sure that this is dovecot bug and not ThunderBird. Anyone to clarify this issue ?
