[Dovecot] okay, working, but not quite pretty...

Hi all. I got my previous problem fixed. Effective uid and gid fix in dovecot.conf file made it work. However, I'm still seeing this in my /var/log/dovecot.conf dovecot: 2006-04-13 21:09:00 Info: imap(chl(a)iaminla.com): Effective uid=1000, gid=1000 The uid and gid *should* both be 1009, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to configure that. I looked around the list and couldn't find the answer. Help a noob out please? [Dovecot] Master Password not working

Trying to get the master password to work. What am I doing wrong? Hi Still running 1.0 stable (an old release i know but until i see more stable reports on beta7 i will hold out). last night is the first time in months the dovecot has died. maillog has repeated lines of this. Apr 16 02:31:37 proteus2 dovecot: pipe() failed: Too many open files dovecot.log just shows last login Apr 16 02:31:36 Info: pop3-login: Login: username [IP] i restarted it Apr 16 08:38:04 Info: Dovecot v1.0-stable starting up and now it seems ok. anyone got a monitor script for watching the dovecot daemon and send a start if it dies? [Dovecot] hard link between courierimapuiddb and dovecot-uidlist?

Hi, guys. I'm attempting to transition between Courier IMAP and Dovecot. I may not be able to transition all the courierimapuiddb files instantly or even transition all my servers at the same time. Ideally, it wouldn't matter. Users can login and get to a Courier IMAP machine or a Dovecot machine and read their email (all mounted via NFS). My question is: is there any reason I can't just do a hard link between courierimapuiddb and dovecot-uidlist? That way, I can transition users over to Dovecot at my leisure. And, if I need to, I can move back to Courier. The hard link is essentially free and lets me make sure these files stay synced. Thanks Jeff

[Dovecot] Beta 7 maildir++ "unlimited quota"

Hi. It looks like Beta 7 is treating a zero quota in maildirsize as a literal quota value. The maildir++ specification says a zero quota means unlimited. Steve

After the success to get Dovecot finally running i have now another problem, but don't know what is wrong there, this is the message i got: pop3(contact(a)maddy.cc): Failed to create storage with data: /var/vmail/maddy.cc/contact/ What does it mean? If you want to preserve them, with 0.99.x you'll have to patch Dovecot. With 1.0-tests you can use: pop3_uidl_format = %08Xv%08Xu In the dovecot-example.conf file, it appears that the mentions of "%08Xu%08Xv" as being fail-safe and being the new default may be typos, since that format doesn't seem to come from anywhere. Should they not say "%08Xv%08Xu" ? (It'll still provide the same sort of unique value, only with the ends reversed; i.e. it should still work ok. But consistency and compatibility is nice.) mm

[Dovecot] unlink a directory

Hi, Occasionally I get an error message in my dovecot log when, in evolution, I click on the inbox: dovecot: Apr 21 00:07:06 Error: imap(admin): unlink(/home/admin/.maildir/cur/1145393825.P23027Q0M159929.terminator.odyssey.nl:2,ST) failed: Is a directory Instead of the message being delivered as a file it appears to be written as a directory. Deleting those directories solves the error message from reappearing. Any ideas? I use FC5, dovecot-1.0-0.beta2.7, postfix-2.2.8-1.2, procmail-3.22-16.2.1 Regards, Alfred

Dear List, We've been following: http://wiki.dovecot.org/SharedFolders But all we can do is subscribe. Hi, An assertion that I haven't seen before: Apr 20 11:15:32 emerald dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error] IMAP(user): file mbox-sync-rewrite.c: line 106 (mbox_sync_headers_add_space): assertion failed: (start_pos < data_size) gdb output from the core file of imap is attached. My setup: Solaris 9, mbox format, INBOX is NFS mounted from a Solaris 10 system, imap and imaps only. Jeff Earickson Colby College
