Hi guys I noticed a few people talking about a bug where "imap" processes loop. Bruce has managed to reproduce the bug. Anyone know if this has been fixed in CVS, or is it an unfixed problem? Cheers Grahame

Doesn't happen to all users and doesn't seem to be dependent on size of Maildir, sending SIGTERM makes it go away and then the user opens the mailbox again and I see normal CPU usage. However 3-4 hours later it will happen again. Using FreeBSD 4.9 and dovecot-0.99.10.4, postfix 2.0.18 as MTA. If theres any other info that would be useful (this is probably the most vauge description I can manage, but its all the info I have) then let me know and I can provide. Ta Jamie

[Dovecot] [PATCH] [RFC] epoll based ioloop handler

Hello, this patch adds ioloop handler using Linux 2.6 epoll API. I'm not sure is it ready for inclusion right now, but it works for me and survives deadconn test with 1024 simultaneous connections. I have some experience with OBSD, squirrel, vpopmail and dovecot. Hello. v0.99.11 2004-09-04 Timo Sirainen <tss(a)iki.fi> + 127.* and ::1 IP addresses are treated as secured with disable_plaintext_auth = yes + auth_debug setting for extra authentication debugging + Some documentation and error message updates + Create PID file in /var/run/dovecot/master.pid + home setting is now optional in static userdb + Added mail setting to static userdb - After APPENDing to selected mailbox Dovecot didn't always notice the new mail immediately which broke some clients - THREAD and SORT commands crashed with some mails - If APPENDed mail ended with CR character, Dovecot aborted the saving - Output streams sometimes sent data duplicated and lost part of it. This could have caused various strange problems, but looks like in practise it rarely caused real problems.

[Dovecot] Plaintext Authentication from Localhost

Hi: It appears that at least at one time, Dovecot supported plaintext authentication from localhost, even if disable_plaintext_auth = yes. To wit, the example configuration file reads: # Disable LOGIN command and all other plaintext authentications unless # SSL/TLS is used (LOGINDISABLED capability). Note that 127.*.*.* and # IPv6 ::1 addresses are considered secure, this setting has no effect if # you connect from those addresses. #disable_plaintext_auth = yes On brief inspection of the code, there doesn't seem to be any such support. This is corroborated by the fact that 0.99.10 (Debian package) behaves by disallowing plaintext authentication via connections on localhost. This is a particularly useful feature, as local webmail clients can safely authenticate via the local interface without requiring secure authentication. So, the question is, is Dovecot supposed to support plaintext auth via localhost even if disallowed in dovecot.conf? If so, any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? Yours truly, Paul C. I've discoverd when I add the line pam_access for access authentication, It always denys a login, even when access.conf accepts everything. I've tested this with other programs, and they work okay. Any ideas?
