Hi all, I have created mdsmon (MailDirSize Monitor) script modifying postmmon (POSTfix Mbox Monitor) script of Ricardo Malafaia. Features: - It works with maildirsize file of users. (all inbox folders in one directory). - It sends alert and warning mails to users if quota is above 50% or 85%. - It creates accounting file. [Dovecot] Slightly off topic question but ...

I'm using files for passwords that look like the unix passwd and shadow files, except each domain has it's own pair of shadow and password files for that domain. And dovecot works fine with that. So - here's my off topic question. I'm trying to create a PHP interface to allow user to change their password in these passwd / shadow file combos. What kind of encryption do they use and specifically what PHP command would I use to encrypt a password like the shadow file has? Thanks in advance.

[Dovecot] Recipient delimiters, deliver and SQL databases

Hi! As a new user, I'm trying to set up a postfix + dovecot combination, and so far all is running smoothly. I'm using the guidelines that came with postfix and adjusting them as I go. My user and alias database is stored in MySQL, using the scheme from 'PostfixAdmin' (http://high5.net/page9.html) and I am using the dovecot LDA 'deliver' to drop messages into mailboxes that exist solely as virtual users. Users can login using both pop3 and imap, and retrieve the e-mails sent directly to them, so I'm happy with that. One of the features supported by postfix, and required for my setup is recipient delimiters. Using recipient delimiters, you can basically send extra information in the e-mail address, to maybe deliver the message into subfolders directly, or to run anti-spam software such as TMDA against. [Dovecot] dovecot imap mbox multiple connections

Hi, The company that I work for are currently looking at a changeover in clients from pegasus mail(v4) to Thunderbird (v1.5.0.8). We run dovecot (v 0.99.13) with mbox. We currently have a bunch of shared folders sitting in a dummy imap account that they all connect to and view. I have read that problems with Thunderbird have been encountered with this setup due to multiple connections to the account and that a possible solution is to convert from mbox to maildir. I was simply wondering if anyone knows anything about this, as I don't seem to be able to find any information on it other than a single thread with a single comment with what seems like anecdotal evidence rather than something acknowledged. Eric, thanks, works fine now, the debian package is updating only the pop3d and not the imapd. Needed to install it seperately. Hello, I'm using 0.99.14 with debian 2.6.8-2-386 #1 Tue Aug 16 12:46:35 UTC 2005 i686 GNU/Linux and exim4. I use the shared folder with symlinks, created by the script create_dovecot_shares-1.06. I have set the permissions and use umask 0007 on dovecot and in exim in maildir_home: directory_mode = 0770 mode = 0660 every thing works well, but if I'm moving a mail from my inbox with thunderbird into the shared mailbox it gets permissions -rw------- 1 user group 11811 2006-12-09 12:58 1165785386.P10056Q2M666099.blupp:2,Sa instead of -rw-rw---- 1 xxx group 31970 2006-12-10 17:26 1165767986.H344527P28279.blupp:2,Sb What am I doing wrong? kind regards Uwe

[Dovecot] 'NO' 'Unknown error'

Dear List, I'm writting a program in Python that connects to a dovecot server and copies/moves messages across different shared folders. The program throws an error while executing this IMAP command: UID COPY 232 Archive/Notifications The same program works fine with other directories and messages. This is the response from the dovecot server: ('NO', ['Unknown error']) Do you have an idea what is the problem? This error message is very cryptic, it does not tell anythig about what is causing the problem and how to fix it. By the way, I'm using dovecot-1.0.r7_2 on FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE. I cannot upgrade to a newer - I had to downgrade to r7 before because dovecot did not find the inboxes of my POP3s users. (But it did find the same inboxes for my IMAPs users.) Thanks, Laszlo

[Dovecot] Using custom Maildir subfolders with pop3 deliveri

Greetings, I am trying to make my antispam protection on user basis. So I need something like .junkmail folder in every user maildir. But the problem I am having is that my mail client can not download mail put in .junkmail folder. I am usin POP3 only, Maildir mailboxes (default_mail_env = maildir:/var/mail/%u) and whether I make folder with leadin dot or not it is never shown in mail client. Sincerely I don`t even know if it is posible with POP3, but it would be very hard converting to IMAP at this moment. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, my environment: dovecot-1.0.rc15 Fedora Directory Server 1.0.2 Currently I've configured dovecote to find user's mail folder like this: dovecot.conf mail_location = maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%u/Maildir All my domain mailboxes are under /var/vmail, as evident. But there are some users whose mail folders are directly under /var/vmail like this one: /var/vmail/myuser1(a)mydomain1.com also, some have their folder names starting with caps like: /var/vmai/mudomain1.com/Myuser1(a)mydomain1.com This creates problems when these users try to login. Here I want dovecote to kind of assemble the mail storage path from mailMessageStore ldap attribute of the particular user. i.e, dovecot should add the mailMessageStore attribute's value to /var/vmail.
