Hey guys, Running rc15, I have maildir quotas working with deliver - however I seem to be unable to get the maildir quota ignore option to work. Am trying to ignore a user wide directory "Maildir/Filtered/", where detected virii/spam gets sorted to. Does deliver take notice of the maildir ignore option ? Applicable line from dovecot-sql.conf: user_query = SELECT CONCAT('/var/mailstore/',Domain,'/',Partition,'/',Email,'/') AS home, CONCAT('maildir:/var/mailstore/',Domain,'/',Partition,'/',Email,'/') AS mail, 5000 AS uid, 5000 AS gid, CONCAT('maildir:storage=10240:ignore=Filtered') AS quota FROM Mailbox WHERE Email = '%u' AND Status = '1' As a side note is there a configurable variable/template to set the "Your message was automatically rejected by Dovecot Mail Delivery Agent" messages. [Dovecot] Invalid password encoding

ok so now I've got Dovecot 1.0rc15 started on the test server. however it seems that the auth-workers don't like their job: auth-worker(default): plain_md5_verify((null)): Invalid password encoding What do I need to do to make their life easier? [Dovecot] maildirsize update error

According to [1], Trash is a reserverd folder name. When moving a message to it, maildirsize should be update with a negative byte count. If I move a message from any folder to Trash, maildirsize gets two lines, one positive and one negative. The problem is that a user can't move messages to Trash while being overquota because the positive entry goes before the negative. I'm using dovecot-1.0rc14. [Dovecot] convert_mail ?

I can't find much documentation on the convert_mail plugin. For example, on the wiki plugins page, clicking on convert goes to <http://wiki.dovecot.org/InterWiki> which is not relevant. Can I use convert_mail to migrate from UW IMAP 2002 mbox format where some mail is in ~/ and the inboxes are in /var/spool/mail? Will it know which files are mbox folders, so it doesn't try to convert other files in the home directories? When are the e-mails converted? Are the old files deleted? Is this configuration snippet valid? default_mail_env = maildir:~/Maildir convert_mail = mbox:~/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u If I can do that, it seems like an easy change. Andrew

[Dovecot] Performance Tuning Recommendations for Dovecot

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has some performance tuning recommendations for Dovecot. We are currently building a series of department e-mail/imap servers and we will be replacing our central core in the coming summer. The department servers are relatively small 100-200 users and the central server is modest - around 7000 accounts. They will be using local filesystem or SAN for the backend storage. So far, enabling hard links seems to be a big win. I'm curious if there are others out there that people have found useful. I am considering putting the indexes on memory disks but I haven't scoped out the requirements for the central system yet (i.e. it is unclear to me how large the index will be for approximately 13 million messages take take up roughly 800GB of disk space. [Dovecot] Deliver bounces messages if can't write to logs

I am new to using Dovecot's LDA deliver. One particular item which I think may be improved.. If one uses logs instead of syslog and if Dovecot/Deliver can't write to the logs, mail is bounced. In contrast if it can't connect to the authentication socket auth-master, it defers. Shouldn't mail be deferred if access to the log files fails due to rights? Doesn defer makes more sense than to bounce in this case? In all likelihood it was postfix that bounced/deferred, but I believe it has to do with what response postfix got from deliver.

[Dovecot] Enabling different quota limits for different users for /etc/passwd as userdatabase on FC3

hey friends, I am running my company's mail server on FC3 which comprises of Postfix + Dovecot + MailScanner + Clamav + Squirrelmail + MailWatch + Spamassassin. I am using Dovecot 0.99.13-3 version on FC3 and I want to implement Quota limits for the users. I am using userdatabase as /etc/passwd file (auth_userdb = passwd ) and password database as pam(auth_passdb = pam) for dovecot. I read the documentation of dovecot but the quota example for /etc/passwd is missing. I want to have different quota limits for different users for example Quota limitation will depend upon the users, well there will be a global quota limit which will takes place if there is no limit specified for that particular user. Can anybody guide me how to configure quota's for different users in dovecot for /etc/passwd as userdatabase and pam as password database. Please let me know if you need any further inputs. Right now, trying to create folders with "/" or "." in their name can yield strange results, because Dovecot simply turns every occurrence of the current folder hierarchy separator in a folder name given by the client into a "." (or so it seems). If the folder separator isn't ".", clients can try to create folders with names containing ".", and Dovecot will convert those "." back to the folder separator on listing. It will look like there is an intermediate folder, but Dovecot is unaware of it. If the folder separator isn't "/", clients can try to create folders with names containing "/", which will simply fail. Judging from to http://www.courier-mta.org/?maildir.html, Courier encodes "." and "/" in the names of the directories the folders are stored as on disk. This means that that of "." and "/" that isn't the folder separator can be used in folder names, but it also means that Dovecot has to be able to perform the recoding.
