[Dovecot] Converting mbox files with dots in names to Maildir

I tried to run convert-tool from dovecot-1.2-0.rc2 on a tree of mbox files with some containing dots in the filenames and got this failure: # /usr/libexec/dovecot/convert-tool ken /home/ken mbox:/home/ken/mail maildir:/home/ken/Maildir Error: Mailbox conversion: Couldn't create mailbox Lists.WINE.patches: Mailbox already exists Error: Internal failure *** glibc detected *** /usr/libexec/dovecot/convert-tool: double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x08ce6cc8 *** The directory in question contains these files: # ls Lists/WINE/ announce bugs cvs devel patches patches.20050130 Will I need to go through the (large) file tree and rename all files with dots in the names? If so, anyone have a script that will do that? (Changing the dot to dash would be fine with me.)

[Dovecot] lda deliver per instance sieve configuration

I'd like to override the sieve settings in dovecot.conf for a deliver instance that is being run from a custom archiving script. This is dovecot 1.0.15 on debian lenny. Is this possible? Doesn't appear to be looking through the WIKI. If it's not any suggestions? The problem is the user specific sieve scripts override where the archived mail is supposed to be stored (maildir:~/.Archives.YYYY-MM) so I'd like to disable their sieve scripts while the archived mail delivery via deliver is taking place. Hello, I am using dovecot 1.2rc series on my mail server combined with postfix ( virtual users with postgre ). I have setup separate home and mail locations. It works fine ( with sieve etc. ). The user home folders are in /home/vmail/%d/%n and mailboxes are in /srv/mail/%d/%n . Looking at the source for convert-tool.c, I see this: "Usage: <username> <home dir> <source mail env> <dest mail env>\n" \ " [skip_broken_mailboxes] [skip_dotfiles] [alt_hierarchy_char=<c>]" else if (strcmp(argv[i], "skip_dotdirs") != 0) set.skip_dotdirs = TRUE; Looks like the usage line needs to be fixed (dovecot-1.2-0.rc2).

Hello, I just installed dovecot 1.2-rc4 on FreeBSD with qmail and vpopmail. I am using roundcube webmail to test(read,delete,move mails) I configured mail-log plugin according to http://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/MailLog log fields: mail_log_fields: uid box msgid size This but in the log file I only that something like that. Hi all, I'm very excited to see lmtp in dovecot now. Starting to play, I encountered following problem: With senders in normal mail address format, everything is delivered right, lmtp works as expected. But with 8bitmime senders, like kernel mailing list, lmtp returns a 5.5.4 not supported and mail is bounced. Is this expected, meaning just not implemented, or could it be a bug? This is likely a daft question, but how do I remove a mailbox from a dovecot server? I'd like to simply remove it from the disk as well, deleting any messages, indexes etc etc Is there a way? david !DSPAM:1715,4a1a817434922186719589!

[Dovecot] creating skeleton Maildir

Dear all, when I had a courier installation still in place I used to create the Maildir tree for a new user using its maildirmake (IIRC) utility. Now that I had to rebuild a server from scratch, and using dovecot did not install courier, I have to create Maildirs without that utility. I seem to remember that libexec/imap could be called in a way to create the Maildir and its required subfolders (.Sent, .Drafts, etc). Do I remember correctly? If so what are the command line options? I cannot find pointers in the wiki or elsewhere. If not, I will just create a template and script the whole process. Thanks Giuliano
