[Dovecot] Problem with pam/krb5 auth on AIX 5.3

I'm using pam to authenticate users against my krb5 realm. Here is the problem scenario: User test2 attempts to login and their password is not expired so dovecot says: 0 login test2 myfavoritepassword 0 OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE SORT THREAD=REFERENCES THREAD=REFS MULTIAPPEND UNSELECT IDLE CHILDREN NAMESPACE UIDPLUS LIST-EXTENDED I18NLEVEL=1 CONDSTORE QRESYNC ESEARCH ESORT SEARCHRES WITHIN CONTEXT=SEARCH] Logged in 1 logout * BYE Logging out 1 OK Logout completed. User test1 attempts to login, but their password is expired. So dovecot says: 0 login test1 myfavoritepassword 0 NO d expired User test2 attempts to login and their password is not expired. But dovecot still says: 0 login test2 myfavoritepassword 0 NO d expired If I kill the pid with name "dovecot-auth -w", user test2 can login just fine unless I login with the user test1 before trying user test2. So it seems like something is getting cached. I'm running imap-login out of inetd, in case that matters. In my dovecot.conf, I don't have any caching/authentication variables activated. I don't see anything obvious to type in passdb pam{ } to type. For debug, I've enable pam for telnet and tested that without error. Also, the logs show that test2 This is dovecot revision 9062:694714d59cd9 . Looking at the logs, I see user test2 authenticate correctly in all instances. thanks, Jonathan

Hello, dovecot-1.1.7 on FreeBSD 7.1. Usernames have dot in them (like uname.example for a user in example.com) in dovecot.conf I have: mail_location: maildir:/userhomes/maildirs/%d/%n/Maildir and for authentication: username_format: %Ln In the client, tried with CONE and Mail.app, I put the username as: uname.example(a)example.com So, the authentication works fine, as it extracts the uname.example from the uname.example(a)example.com supplied. Hello. I encountered the wiki entry on maildirs not long ago. In it, it is suggested that the use of ,S= and ,W= may improve performance as dovecot does not need to calculate size itself. While my maildir filenames have ,W=, they lack ,S=. I've grepped dovecot.conf, but I can find no option to address this. Regards, Joseph

Hello, My storage is running low and i was wondering what would be the best and easy way of deleting everything within the "deleted" and "expunged" folders for every user...? My mail resides in: /srv/mail/vmail/MYDOMAIN.COM/<users>/Maildir/ Thanks..!

Hi all I have a box running Debian Lenny 5.0.1 and Dovecot 1.0.15. The user query given below does not expand %d, making logins fail. The password query seems to work well, according to the mysql query log. Any ideas why this happens? [Dovecot] Dovecot is emptying Maildir folders

Hello, i have a annoying problem with dovecot after updating to 1.1.14. Dovecot seems to empty all cur/ and new/ Folders in the Maildir of a particular user several times a day (3 times so far). It leaves only unread messages in their place. All Index-Files are getting updated and reflect the "empty"-State of the Mailbox. A quick look over the logfiles reveals nothing which seems to be relevant to this malfunction. The error_log is empty for the relevant timeframe. There is no Expire/Expunge-Plugin running. Fortunately i have a hourly backup-snapshot to restore the Mailboxes, but this is obviously no solution. How can i debug this problem? Any advice is welcome. System: FreeBSD 7.1-RELEASE, dovecot-1.1.14, dovecot-managesieve-0.10.6, dovecot-sieve-1.1.6 (all installed via the ports-tree), exim-4.69_3 Clients: Thunderbird, Mail.app both IMAP only Regards, Alex

Hi All, As I say in the subject I use postfix, dovecot with squirrellmail as webmail and amavisd as spam control, My problem is that all the spam I catch is send to /var/lib/amavis/virus but I want to send this mails to the spam folder of each user. This way the user can see the mails and determine if they are really spam or false positive. I dont know exactly what element of the system is the responsible to do that (dovecot, amavis, posttix) any suggest? (although only be the initial point to look for it) Thanks in advance ESG

[Dovecot] National symbols imap search

How does imap server should handle search requests with non latin symbols? Rightnow thunderbird 2.0.0.21 and dovecot1.2rc3 are unable to find any message if I try to search for cyrillic symbols. fts, and squat plugins are enabled
