[Dovecot] Email stress test

Hello all. May be not in right list but... I have a email system based on: Exim-4.69 + Dovecot-1.1.11 on FreeBSD-7.1 I need to make a stress test on it. Something like a 1000 concurrent conection to IMAP and SMTP. What tool can help me? -- Best regards, Proskurin Kirill

[Dovecot] dbox - how to awaken the monster

Hello people, Since the invention of this storage called dbox, I have never quite gotten round to understanding it, nor getting to use it. It seems so strange to me and I must ask a few stupid questions about it. I use the MTA to deliver mail to Maildir, either in ~/Maildir or /some/path/%d/%n/Maildir. It has always beat me how dbox comes into play under such circumstances. From the wiki, I see the following: "dbox supports a quick migration from Maildir format" - now this leaves me hanging. How? Suppose I migrate from Maildir to dbox, what changes do I make to the MTA to understand that I use dbox? Ok, I use Exim as my MTA. I hope someone can explain to me what I need to do to Exim and what to do th Dovecot so that I can test this dbox thing. And suppose I want to transfer userA's mail to UserB, what do I do? With Maildir, I can simply do something like mv ~A/Maildir ~B/Maildir chown -R B ~b/Maildir Suppose I am using dbox, howdy? Thank you in advance. Thanks.

[Dovecot] Slightly OT : Maildir format (silly) questions

Hello, I was asking what was the motivation for not having the envelope From in the Maildir format, as defined in the qmail spec : "The message is delivered without an extra UUCP- style From_ line, without any >From quoting, and without an extra blank line at the end." which may sound silly since we lose an important piece of information. Same question about the motivation in Courrier (Maildir++) for emulating a hierarchy for subfolders (like in .folder.subfolder.subsubfolder) instead of (note : I know about layout=FS, I'm not talking about that) implementing a real filesystem hierarchy. I understand dovecot kept those for compatibility reasons but I'd like to know what was the authors of thoses specs thinking when deciding this. [Dovecot] Informations in LDAP and Database

Hi everybody, I'm installing an application using LDAP and I want dovecot to use LDAP too. The problem is that they don't use the same schema (especially because we want per-user quotas). I think the best solution is to have the authentication by LDAP and others datas (like quotas) in a database. Is it possible with dovecot ? and How ? Thanks Etienne

Hi, I'm testing migration from courier to courier-0.57.0 to dovecot-imap-1.1.12 on a debian/sid box. When running the migration script, non of the active users' "courierimapsubscribed" and "courierimapuiddb" files seem to be detected: ZENON:~# ./courier-dovecot-migrate.pl --to-dovecot --recursive /home Testing conversion to Dovecot format Finding maildirs under /home /home/XXXX/Maildir: No imap/pop3 uidlist files /home/XXXX/CB: No imap/pop3 uidlist files /home/XXXX/Maildir/subscriptions already exists, not overwritten /home/XXXX/Maildir: No imap/pop3 uidlist files /home/XXXX/Maildir: No imap/pop3 uidlist files /home/XXXX/Mail: No imap/pop3 uidlist files /home/XXXX/Maildir: No imap/pop3 uidlist files /home/XXXX/Maildir: No imap/pop3 uidlist files Total: 0 mailboxes / 0 users 0 mailboxes / 0 users 0 errors No actual conversion done, use --convert parameter (the /home/XXXX users are old, non-active users) However when trying the courier-dovecot-migrate-1.0.pl I get plenty of mailbox matches, but since I am installing 1.1.12 it is useless to me.
