[Dovecot] sendmail with dovecot sasl

Hi, I was wondering if I can make sendmail use dovecot's SASL implementation...maybe I should somehow compile it against dovecot's SASL ? My idea is to make sendmail and dovecot authenticate against one central user/password repository. Is this possible ? thank you. P.S. I want to use virtual users

[Dovecot] multiple sql servers - loadbalancing and failover

Hi, Is there a way for dovecot to use a pool of sql (mysql) servers and load balance queries between these? Also fallback to next available sql server if connection to previous one fails. Hi Timo, Not sure if you saw this yet, or if you're still working on a response. Awhile back I'd written about making changes to some of the log levels that dovecot writes to to stop the process from writing these to monitor. I wanted to run a few changes by you for this, just to make sure these won't cause problems somewhere else. And to send this to the list, in case anyone else wants to make similar changes in the future. dovecot version 1.0.10 I run a telnet localhost 143 to get into my loopback installation of Dovecot on Ubuntu8.04 I have the auth default {} containing the following auth mechanisms, from dovecot -n, I get this, auth default: mechanisms : plain login cram-md5 digest-md5 I had an user which is called user1, I do the following after telnet localhost 143 A Login user1 <user1's pwd> A CAPABILITY I expect to get the list that contains the following - AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN AUTH=CRAM-MD5 AUTH=DIGEST-MD5 But actually I did not get the above content, I only get a short list as below, CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 SASL -IR SORT THREAD=REFERENCES MULTIAPPEND UNSELECT LITERAL+ IDLE CHILDREN NAMESPACE LOGIN-REFERRALS A OK Capability completed Why did I miss the AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN AUTH=CRAM-MD5 AUTH=DIGEST-MD5?? Dear List, I dont know if its a config problem or its an outlook 2007 issue. Behaviour: If I set /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf: Following is valid with IMAP mailboxes only: disable_plaintext_auth = yes # outlook 2007 with TLS in/out enabled) can show index of mails and klick on mail does preview / doubleklick opens mail PERFECT AS INTENDED disable_plaintext_auth = no # outlook 2007 with TLS/SSL OFF can show index of mails, but (double)-/klick on mail gives me "sandwatch"-mouspointer and I've to restart outlook again (and enable TLS again to get it work again) with POP3 mailbox both variants are working smoothly. [Dovecot] Preventing IMAP folder deletion?

Hi! I'm running postfix with dovecot using mysql for user accounts, with Outlook being used as the IMAP mail client. I'm using a mail delimiter ("+") and mail automatically goes to a Spam folder as part of spam filtering with amavisd and spam assassin. It's configured so that folders won't automatically create; if the folder isn't there mail delivers to the inbox (so that spam doesn't create extra folders). the problem I ran into today is that a user deleted the Spam folder. While recreating it isn't that hard, is there a way I can prevent them from being able to delete specific folders in IMAP? In squirrelmail I can create "system" folders that the user can't change or delete, but that's client based. Since I don't see that ability in Outlook, can I somehow configure dovecot so the user can't delete specified folders? [Dovecot] Version 2.0 with multiple IP/TLS certificate support.

Hello, I sent this email earlier but for some reason it did not go through so I will try again! I am using Dovecot on several servers that require multiple domain SSL certificates. I like Dovecot very much because of its speed and stability. Currently, Dovecot does not support multiple SSL certificates directly although I have gotten around this problem with multiple Dovecot instances running multiple configuration files. However, I would prefer to have one configuration file that supports multiple domain certificates. My understanding is that Dovecot Version 2.0 will have this "multiple SSL certificate" feature. So, my question is, when is version 2.0 projected to be released? Many thanks! Gordon Dickens

Memory corruption means that it's a security bug and possibly exploitable. MODSEQ code is new in v1.2, so v1.1 and older releases are not affected. Other than that, there is an ESORT bugfix and other fixes that were added to v1.1 branch too.

[Dovecot] Dovecot 1.2 beta1 in Solaris 10 for sparc, error reading maildir format?

Greetings, i have installed dovecot 1.2beta1. I get an error like (in folders from squirrelmail): -* ERROR: Connection terminated by IMAP SERVER".*Query: SELECT "INBOX" -* ERROR: Connection terminated by IMAP SERVER** *Query: STATUS "INBOX" (MESSAGES UNSEEN RECENT) in syslog i get: acamail dovecot: [ID 583609 mail.error] child 3322 (imap) killed with signal 10 In happens with all mail (from dovecot 1.1 maildir) and with new mail. For example, i have deleted all the maildirs folders, then i sent two mails, the first one, i am able to read the first one from Sent Folder, but when i sent the second one, the Sent Folder give me an error (and it can't be readed): *-ERROR: Connection terminated by IMAP SERVER* Query: SELECT "Enviados" (Sent Folder) The problem is the same with outlook express. Is there some bug related with this version?. I will try 1.2 beta 2 and let you know how it goes.
