[Dovecot] alternate ports?

I'm trying to set up 1.0 beta 2 on one of our systems, and would like to run it on alternate ports from the standard IMAP and IMAP/SSL ports so that we can test it out a couple users at a time. How does one tell dovecot to listen on alternate ports? I can't find anything in the example config file... Thanks, Gregory -- Gregory K. [Dovecot] Openwebmail with Dovecot

So far I've managed to get Dovecot to work fine for regular POP users and Squirrelmail. Even though it seems dead slow and obsolete, a few users would like to use Openwebmail. All users are virtual, and there are/will be no system accounts. Anyone have a working example for Dovecot/Openwebmail for virtual user setup? [Dovecot] epoll error when running as proxy

I am running dovecot 1.0 beta3 as a front-end proxy, and getting the following error when using epoll. The error goes away if I switch to poll. On the backend IMAP server I see that the login was successful. The error occurs when I try to retrieve an email or get a folder listing via IMAP after logging in successfully... I hope somebody can point me in the right direction to fix this. - I am running this on Red Hat ES4 (32-bit x86), compiling with the following options: ./configure \ --prefix=/usr \ --sysconfdir=/etc \ --localstatedir=/var \ --with-ssldir=/usr/share/ssl \ --disable-ipv6 \ --with-file-offset-size=32 \ --with-mem-align=4 \ --with-ioloop=epoll \ --without-passwd \ --without-passwd-file \ --without-shadow \ --without-pam \ --without-checkpassword \ --without-bsdauth \ --without-gssapi \ --with-ldap \ --without-vpopmail \ --with-static-userdb \ --with-prefetch-userdb \ --without-pgsql \ --with-mysql \ --without-sqlite \ --without-ssl \ --with-storages=maildir - I have also complied with these options and got the same error: ./configure \ --prefix=/usr \ --sysconfdir=/etc \ --localstatedir=/var \ --with-ioloop=epoll \ --with-mysql - I have also tried the latest CSV snapshot (dovecot-20060209.tar.gz) and 1.0 beta2, and I get the same error. - If I switch to poll instead of epoll, everything works fine. [Dovecot] trouble compiling today's CVS in Solaris 9

I've recently been able to compile the CVS code in Solaris 9, but I'm now getting a few errors. First, I receive this error during the autogen process: src/plugins/Makefile.am:5: required directory src/plugins/convert does not exist configure.in:1717: required file `src/plugins/convert/Makefile.in' not found I can workaround that by removing the reference to src/plugins/convert in configure.in. I then get this error: src/plugins/Makefile.am:5: required directory src/plugins/convert does not exist I can workaround that by removing the reference to the convert plugin from src/plugins/Makefile.am. The problem seems to be in src/lib-sql/Makefile[.in] When there are no sql drivers to build, the shell-script for making sql-drivers-register.c fails. I've managed to get it to build by just having #include "lib.h" #include "sql-api.h" void sql_drivers_register_all(void) { } as sql-drivers-register.c Best Wishes, Chris P.S. [Dovecot] configuring lda

after coping lda stanza into the config file, I get "unknown protocol name" error. adding lda to the list of protocols doesn't seem to do the trick. lda was built during compile and the binary is present, piping into it manually spits error messages about missing config, so how do I go about the problem above ? [Dovecot] Broken NSS Implementation

We're getting this error when IMAP clients attempt to authenticate using their aliases rather than their actual username: Feb ... dovecot: auth(default): BROKEN NSS IMPLEMENTATION: getpwnam() lookup returned different user than was requested (campbellmckilligan != campbell.mckilligan). Feb ... dovecot: imap-login: Internal login failure: user=<campbell.mckilligan>, method=plain, rip=82.148.120.110, lip=172.20.2.2, TLS Feb ... dovecot: child 27345 (auth) returned error 89 For historic reasons, there is no consistency with which username in individuals mail client. NSS correctly returns the name that dovecot should use for the purposes of accessing mailboxes etc. Dovecot-0.99.14 worked fine in this regard - but since upgrading to 1.0beta3 we have this problem. It's running on a Fedora Core 4 server. It compiled fine with selinux enabled. Is there a switch to control the response to this NSS behaviour? Any help appreciated. Campbell

I don't think that UW-IMAP was expunging messages because I could open up the mbox with pine and see all of the messages flagged as "Deleted" but not yet expunged. And when I try a similar test with Fastmail.fm (delete the message in Mail, then check using the web interface) the mail is marked as deleted in the web interface and does not show up in Mail.app but the messages are re-numbered appropriately. Granted, I have no idea how Mail.app does its numbering (especially since Thunderbird doesn't have message numbering), but is it possible that there's more information that the IMAP server should be sending back that Dovecot isn't? I've attached a screenshot from my Mail.app that shows the numbering issue. The gaps in the message sequence are where a deleted (but not expunged) message was. jcn
