[Dovecot] Shared Folders (1.0beta3)
by Timothy White 07 Mar '06

07 Mar '06

A few quick questions, as documentation seems to be sparse. * Is there a way to force a shared folder to be subscribed to? If I am using SquirrelMail I have a plugin to do that, but not if they are using another IMAP client. * Are there some sort of ACL's on shared folders, so that I can (hopefully with a sql backend), allow different users different permissions on the folder? * Is it a bug that we can't subscribe to the shared folder, only to it's sub folders? (and is there a way to work around this, i.e. if the shared folder isn't really a Maildir, but it's sub folders are? Other than that, so far, my glimpse at 1.0beta3 is looking very good, and came at the right time, as I was thinking I might need to use Cyrus for the project I'm working on atm... Thanks Tim -- Linux Counter user #273956

Then read NFS section in http://wiki.dovecot.org/QuickConfiguration

[Dovecot] using mbox but, can't create subfolders
by blaq b0x 07 Mar '06

07 Mar '06

Hi, I'm using mbox format w/ dovecot 1.0b3. I tried moving over my mail from a uw-imap server. Everything works fine except I can't create subfolders. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this a limitation of dovecot? How can I fix this? Thanks, --------------------------------- Yahoo! Mail Bring photos to life! Oddly, this too is a Sun box but it's running Debian. I'm ccing this back to the list in case anyone else needs to know that (or can tell me what's wrong with my flock). thanks again, will > > > > > > > William Ross wrote: > >> hello Timo, list, >> >> quick error-message question. [Dovecot] convert tool
by lenny＠edpausa.com 06 Mar '06

06 Mar '06

Trying out the new convert tool, to migrate from mbox to maildir. Using this syntax ( both inbox and folders are in user's home dir, in mbox format ) ./convert-tool pinetest/export/home2/pinetest \ mbox:/export/home2/pinetest/:INBOX=/export/home2/pinetest/mbox \ maildir:/export/home2/pinetest/Maildir/ I get this error. "Error: Mailbox conversion: Couldn't create mailbox home/Trash Error: Internal failure" Where does it get home/Trash from is hard to guess. I'm not using any variables, every path explicitly says "/export/home2/pinetest" Any ideas ?

[Dovecot] How to create .dovecot.sieve through IMAP?
by Sergey A. Lipnevich 06 Mar '06

06 Mar '06

Hi All, I suspect that the answer is "no way," but there's hope. I'm trying to set up a PHP application Ingo (part of Horde suite) to create the file <home>/.dovecot.sieve for the "advanced" LDA to do mail sorting. Because PHP is running under a Web server user, Ingo can't really write this file directly. My question is, is there any way for Ingo (or any other tool, for that matter) to create that file via IMAP protocol interaction? Horde authenticates users and "knows" login/password combination (that's how it accesses mail folders). Thank you! Sergey.

Hello guys, I have just installed ispman. According to the manual it supports cyrus & courier. I was wondering if it will support dovecot. Dennis Kaplan
