[Dovecot] Error when using include directive in Sieve

Hi I have two sieve scripts: # cat /var/vmail/sieve/global require ["include"]; include :global "spam"; include :personal "sieve"; # cat /var/vmail/sieve/spam require "fileinto"; if exists "X-Spam-Flag" { fileinto "Junk"; } # ls -l /var/vmail/sieve/ total 16 -rw-r--r-- 1 mailuser mailgroup 68 2008-05-28 00:40 global -rw------- 1 mailuser mailgroup 80 2008-05-28 00:40 globalc -rw-r--r-- 1 mailuser mailgroup 68 2008-05-27 21:15 spam -rw------- 1 mailuser mailgroup 80 2008-05-27 21:25 spamc # cat /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf [...] sieve_global_dir = /var/vmail/sieve/ sieve_global_path = /var/vmail/sieve/global [...] When delivering a message I get: deliver(*****@*******): May 28 00:39:04 Error: sieve_execute_bytecode(/var/vmail/sieve/globalc) failed Personal sieve script is not sure to exist, only if the user has created it. If I put the contents of the spam script in the global script (replacing the content), everything works fine. Why does this happen? Is it because the personal script doesn't exists?Or is the syntax incorrect (i don't think this because the script is compiled)? Thanks in advance.

[Dovecot] Vanishing maildirsize files with 1.0.7 using 'deliver' via postfix

Aloha, I've searched the list and have found no similar reports, so I'm asking here. We have 3 RH5.1 boxes running the stock Postfix 2.3.3, but due to issues with the stock Dovecot 1.0rc15, Redhat supplied us with the version of Dovecot 1.0.7 that will be in Redhat 5.2. The mail store is automounted per-user from a Sun box via NFS. We were using it with no problems until last Friday, when we attempted to implement quotas. I had done quite a lot of testing on a single system, so I didn't anticipate any issues here. I created maildirsize files for each user in the NFS-mounted /var/spool/mail/$USER and everything seemed fine. I changed mailbox_command to /usr/libexec/dovecot/deliver in postfix main.cf. Mail was delivered, quota files updated, all good. However almost immediately a maildirsize folder vanished. Soon after another, then another, and now we're missing nearly 40 of them. Any ideas as to why they're vanishing? Something to do with NFS? I've tried to trigger it by massively sending to the same user on all three systems but have yet to reproduce it at will. Any clues would be appreciated. For reasons of support I cannot upgrade to a later dovecot at this time. Best Regards, - jason

[Dovecot] Dovecot quota for mailadministrator

Hallo, i have a question for the quota with dovecot. I plan to go from our cyrus installation to dovecot. I have just install dovecot without problem with mysqldb and quota per user. Quota work well and the user receive always via Webmail or client the quota information. My question is: With cyrus the mailadministrator has the possibility to see the quota for all users with the command "quota". Output or example: 300000 9 28305 user.tinfo With that way the administrator could have always a look if some users have quota problems. My question is, if dovecot has some similar command for the administrator? Thanks in advance. Markus

[Dovecot] Problem with checkpassword-reply

Hello I posted an earlier post on problems with getting usernames. That one is solved, thank you. I'm currently having trouble executing checkpassword-reply. The maillog shows the following error: (substituting rip/lip/user/domain) May 27 07:21:06 saw dovecot: Logins with UID 0 not permitted (user user(a)domain.com> May 27 07:21:06 saw dovecot: imap-login: Internal login failure: user=<user(a)domain.com>, method=plain, rip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, lip=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, TLS My script reads fd3 right and gets all the details correct. Then runs the following code: --- $REPLY = $ARGV[0] || exit 111; # this is actually run much earlier $ENV{HOME} = "$USERSHOME/$domain/$user"; $ENV{USER} = $user; # effective gid $) = 300; # effective uid $> = 300; exec $REPLY; --- I've looked at the checkpassword-reply code (thank god for open source software) and I saw that it opens fd4 for writing. I couldn't find any documentation about this and couldn't find anyone who is using checkpassword-reply. No sample scripts, no examples, and the documentation on the site is extremely scarce. The wiki docs indicate I should just execute it - which I do - but that does not help. Also, the debugging isn't very meaningful. I'm definitely changing the UID and GID, but it's not apparent in the maillog. The fie permissions on checkpassword-reply show I could execute it under any user and I've tried that with "sudo -u <user> /path/to/checkpassword-reply. On a post somewhere in the vortex of the internet someone said Dovecot does not allow any uid/gid under 99 (which is why I tried 300), but I couldn't find any documentation for that anywhere in the wiki either. What am I missing and is there anything I've missed that would have prevented me from emailing the mailing list with this long email? Thanks, Sawyer.

[Dovecot] Asking for password

Hi, I'm a new user of Dovecot. I have installed it in a server in combination of Postfix. [Dovecot] mbox From escaping implementation ?

Hello, I read in the wiki (http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/mbox) about "From Escaping": "Dovecot doesn't currently do this escaping however. Instead it prevents this confusion by adding Content-Length headers so it knows later where the next message begins. Dovecot doesn't either remove the '>' characters before sending the data to clients. Both of these will probably be implemented later." As I understand it, this makes the mbox format of dovecot slightly incompatible with other mbox-capable clients, because if they read the data files directly, they may understand a line starting with an unescaped 'From ' as the start of a new message. Right ? Are there any plans to implement this escaping in the future (1.1.x or 2.0.x?) Thanks, -- Nicolas

[Dovecot] Sieve plugin changes 'To' header on redirect

Hi, I'm a bit confused by the fact that the 'To' header is being modified by sieve when a message is being redirected. RFC3028 states in chapter 4.3: > The "redirect" action is used to send the message to another user at > a supplied address, as a mail forwarding feature does. The > "redirect" action makes no changes to the message body or existing > headers, but it may add new headers. The "redirect" modifies the > envelope recipient. (see http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3028.txt) The situation here is as follows: I'm sending a mail to "city(a)company.net" (To: ...), which is being delivered to "city(a)city.company.net" (Delivered-To: ...). User city has the following sieve script: redirect "other(a)company.net"; keep; One would expect, that the 'To:' header is identical in both mails, but instead I get something like this: Mail in 'city' mailbox: > Delivered-To: city(a)city.company.net > To: city(a)company.net > Subject: test mail (Redirected) Mail in 'other' mailbox: > Delivered-To: other(a)city.company.net > To: city(a)city.company.net > Subject: test mail It seems as if sieve uses the 'Delivered-To' header as the 'To' header in the redirected mail - which is not what I need. Am I misunderstanding something here, or does dovecot's sieve plugin not act according to the RFC? [Dovecot] Bug: subscriptions file does not take on the same perms as dovecot-shared

All, Version: 1.1.rc5 Solaris x86 on ZFS Shared Folder Bug, renamed a folder with sub folders (Maildir format) After the rename the subscriptions file is own by the person who renamed the folders, and access is owner rw only. Instead it should be the same as dovecot-shared which would general be rw owner, and rw group for a shared folder. Cheers Damon.

Hello, I have this line in the plugins configuration section : sieve = /etc/dovecot/sieve Where: /etc/dovecot/sieve: require "fileinto" if header :contains "Subject" "****SPAM****"{ fileinto "spam"; } I want this filter for all the users of the system, but I also want to tell dovecot to look in the /home/user/mail/.sieve file for custom per-user filters.
