[Dovecot] POP3 message not deleted

Hi, i start today my new mail server with dovecot with about 2000 User on it. i don't know if it's a problem or not but when a client connect in pop3 the message keep on the server. [Dovecot] quota reporting and mail.app

Hi everyone. I can't get mail.app to report back correct quota information using mail.app and dovecot (though it works with courier-imap). I am looking at migrating away from courier-imap to dovecot but this issue is something I need to have resolved <somehow>. Thunderbird is fine and reports back good info on either connection. I am off to read RFCs (can't I just read the sendmail book again? Might be easier...) to see what should really be done. [Dovecot] SASL from remote server

Is there a way, using Dovecot and Postfix, to use SASL from a remote server? Since it appears the communication uses Unix sockets, does this mean it is restricted to local services only? I have a two-server configuration, where my firewall also runs the mail gateway/filter (Postfix + ASSP). My internal server has Postfix + Dovecot. Right now I have my internal server configured to use Dovecot SASL, but the external server is still using the Courier authdaemon against the LDAP database. -- Daniel

[Dovecot] Running a script when a mail arrives

Hi, I'm trying to execute a script when a mail arrives in a given user's mailbox. Something like .dovecot.sieve. The reason I'm not using sieve itself is that I need to do stuff on mail arrival, which is beyond sieve's features. So is there a way to tell dovecot to run a script when a mail arrives in a certain mailbox? Optionally a solution to forward the whole mail to a script would be good too. -- Dennis Becker

[Dovecot] Multiple Quota "ignore=" in Dovecot 1.0.x?

Any chance that multiple "ignore=" statements cab be specified for a quota in Dovecot 1.0.x? We know this is possible in 1.1, but won't be able to update until it's stable. We've tried: quota = maildir:storage=256000:ignore=Junk:ignore=Trash and quota = maildir:storage=256000:ignore=Junk,Trash However, only "Junk" is ignored, and email can't be deleted when the mailbox is full. Assuming not, becauase Postfix is delivering over Dovecot, as defined in postfix/master.conf dovecot unix - n n - - pipe flags=DRhu user=vmail:mail argv=/usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -d $(recipient) So how can i set this two parameters ?? Hi there, I have two questions: - Is there a dovecot documentation for developers (apart from the source itself)? - In the site I am concerned with, it happens very often that one mail is delivered to hundreds of recipients. Since almost all of the mailboxes are situated on the same filesystem, the mail is delivered by just saving it once and establishing hardlinks from the mail directories of all the other recipients to this one mail. My question now is: can dovecot's lda "deliver" be configured to deliver mail to more than one recipients and to use the hardlink method just described? Boris -- Dipl. Phys. [Dovecot] 'r' flag in ACL stomping on 'l' flag effect

We're using Dovecot 1.0.3, and I'm setting up some shared IMAP folders. The eventual goal is to do the standard "learn as spam" / "learn as ham" type of setup, with some cron jobs to do the message extractions. But there's one minor twist: the "learn as ham" folder will need to be write-only for users. (I'll either create a fake user with read access to extract the mail for sa-learn, or do some local filesystem access, etc. A problem for a future day.) The issue is that some of the mail being misclassified might contain sensitive information. So users should be able to copy messages into that folder, but not list or read other messages. (Yes, they will be removed from the folder by the future sa-learn script, don't worry.) [Dovecot] Delete mails in dovecot POP3 has a bug/feature

When a mailbox has abt 40 mails with 4-5 mb attachments , it is quite common for the pop3 connection to get timed out or disconnected esp. if user has dialup modem. In this case , dovecot seems to REALLY HIT the user hard. Because it simply DOES NOT delete mails , even if user requested so. It only deletes the mails if users succesfully logs out. No other pop3 server has this problem so i would request this bugs is fixed ASAP. Effect of this bug - user has to retry multiple times and download multiple copies of mail before it finally deleted. Server Using ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn + standard apt-get dovecot. Client end tested using getmail+BrokenUIDLPOP3Retriever To be Fixed - dovecot should delete mail even if the client connection gets "broken" or disconnects "ungracefully". e.g. user hits CTRL+C with getmail.
