[Dovecot] v1.1.beta1 POP3 delete problem

Hello, POP3 server does not delete mails when user quits POP3 session, but only at the next login. It looks so - user logs in with USER and PASS commands, at this moment new messages are moved from /new to /cur maildir folder. Then messages are deleted with DELE command(before deleting there can be other POP3 commands) and the user quits session. The server says "+OK Logging out, messages deleted.", but in fact messages are not deleted from the disk and stays in /cur folder. [Dovecot] nfs_flush_fcntl

Hi, It seems that after I upgraded to 1.1beta1 it takes a few seconds first time I access a folder and i get this error : fcntl(/mail2/home/jon/.Maildir/.INBOX.Pren/dovecot.index.cache, F_RDLCK) failed: Bad file descriptor. No errors after that and it works fine. is this expected. Is it ok to continue using this? Best regards - Jon

[Dovecot] v1.0 vs 1.1b re: Postfix and Dovecot LDA

In running the various 1.0.n versions of Dovecot's LDA with the instructions in the wiki for using LDA with Postfix [on OS X 10.4] things went well using the instructions as-is (no setuid problems). This changed in moving over to the 1.1 beta. The LDA refused to work failing with the error "setgroups() failed: Operation not permitted" as I mentioned in a previous message. After reading the exchange between Bill Cole and Rich Winkel and following up on this, it seems that the new 1.1b wants you to give the Deliver app specific setuid permission via: cd /path/to/where/dovecot's/deliver/is sudo chmod u+s deliver Then things worked as before. There was no need to give the group 's' permission nor to change ownership of deliver from the default root:staff or root:wheel or whomever... . The error message seems odd though. I am not sure if, overall, this means there is a problem in Dovecot 1.0.n or that things are being tightened up in 1.1b. Thanks Bill and Rich for the tip! Jerry Yeager

I don't see this as a problem at all (why create one when there's none to be found:): * Move message into Spam: it's a spam that should be reclassified. * Move message out of Spam: it's a ham that should be reclassified. Don't really care where the mail comes from or where it is moved. This is the beauty of it all, count the key or mouse clicks, can't be less than this:) * Using the expire plugin, the Spam folder will be emptied auto- matically in due time (typically 30 days maybe) without user intervention. [Dovecot] Problem searching with thunderbird

Hi, I'm getting 100s of these errrors when a use the search function in thunderbird. Thunderbird seems to keep searching but shows no restults. [Dovecot] Configure/install path overrides

Hi, I'm building and installing dovecot on a Solaris 10 machine and therefore I want to install Dovecot in /opt/dovecot. Thus, I start configure with --prefix=/opt/dovecot. I also override things like 'libexecdir', 'docdir', etc. When calling make install, Dovecot is installed in /opt/dovecot, but for example the binary user files are installed in /opt/dovecot/bin/dovecot. The same for the docs, which are installed in /opt/dovecot/share/doc/dovecot. I think that's not quite nice and neat, so I call 'make install' like: make docdir=/opt/dovecot/share/doc install. But even then, the wiki stuff is still installed in /opt/dovecot/share/doc/dovecot/wiki in stead of /opt/dovecot/share/doc/wiki. Very anoying. My point is that ./configure should be able to override all paths, but since some paths are somehow hard-coded in the Makefile, this is impossible. Any chance this will (be) change(d) sometime? -Remy

[Dovecot] deliver w/quotas - MDN after accept mail?

I'm testing deliver with sendmail and fs quotas. On an over quota condition, deliver accepts the mail, deletes it, then issues a MDN immediately. Is there a way to get deliver to soft fail like procmail does with a 400 error and queue the mail, then let sendmail handle the MDN, following it's "confTO_QUEUEWARN" and "confTO_QUEUERETURN" ? Hi All, does anyone know of a way to automatically create user folder(s)? Like creating a Spam folder on login if not already there. I've googled a bit but couldn't find anything relevant. Any advice appreciated R /Lars

Hi, I am trying to get sieve working with dovecot. Dovecot itself is working fine, and I have the following config: root@master:/var/log# dovecot --version 1.0.rc2 root@master:/var/log# dovecot -n # /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf log_timestamp: %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S protocols: imap ssl_disable: yes disable_plaintext_auth: no login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable: /usr/lib/dovecot/imap-login mail_extra_groups: mail default_mail_env: maildir:/var/mail/%u auth default: passdb: driver: pam userdb: driver: passwd I have this in my lda protocol: mail_plugins = cmusieve And I have created a .dovecot.sieve in both ~ and /var/mail/$user/ that looks like this: require "fileinto"; if exists "X-Spam-Flag" { fileinto "Junk"; } No mail gets moved to the junk folder, nut it does arrive in my inbox with the X-SPAM-Flag: Yes header. How do I troubleshoot this? I don't see anywhere in the logs any errors or any mention whatsoever of filtering activity or failure. I have seen numerous pages on how to set this up, but they invariably focus on setting up virtual users, which I do not need, so it isn't clear which steps I can safely ignore. thanks in advance, Cliff
