So I write an AWK script which creates the proper first line and gets for each line the message ID and message file name. Yet after I do the conversion and run a pop3 client against the migrated pop account, old mails are re-downloaded.

[Dovecot] cache_key assertion error 1.0.beta8

I just added auth caching with pam, and I'm getting this error: dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error] auth(default): file passdb.c: line 178 (passdb_init): assertion failed: (passdb->passdb->default_pass_scheme != NULL || passdb->passdb->cache_key == NULL) A google search turns up <http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot-cvs/2005-March/004117.html> which looks approx like this except the assertion above is in passdb.c. Anyway, is this a known problem in 1.0.beta8? I've been reluctant to upgrade to the rc's due to all the problems. -frank

Going to be transfering a number of domains from a Courier setup to Dovecot. Is there a way to get Dovecot to index the files before the users access their accounts?

[Dovecot] Status of commercial support?

Was going over the archives looking for any info on commercial support. Only found some emails back from 2005. Is there commercial support available? If not, any consultants that could help with an installation. In particular Courier 4 POP migration to dovecot.

After I activated disabling POP3 for one of my users (not user 'jos'), the following is in my logfile: Dec 3 16:03:33 webrz dovecot: IMAP(jos): Disconnected Dec 3 16:03:36 webrz dovecot: IMAP(jos): Disconnected in IDLE Dec 3 16:03:36 webrz dovecot: IMAP(jos): file ioloop.c: line 22 (io_add): assertion failed: (fd >= 0) Dec 3 16:03:36 webrz dovecot: child 74197 (imap) killed with signal 6 Can someone tell me what is going wrong? Have a deny.imap file with no users in it and a deny.pop3 file with one user in it... Jos

[Dovecot] [IDEA] Shared Folders via LDAP Lookups

Hi All, We've been thinking a lot about the 2 different ways dovecot implements shares; namespaces and symlinks. We currently use the symlink version for our clients and they use the create_dovecot_shares.pl tool we did at: http://dovecot.org/tools/ Our idea is either in the namespace declaration or if a folder has a dovecot-shared file/symlink, have a ldap lookup defined in say, dovecot-ldap-shares.conf or dovecot-ldap.conf, that queries a dn and looks for memberUID or a group dn, then those uids/groups can get into the IMAP maildir. Obviously the original folder would need to be owned by some predefined user, e.g dovecot etc. Then it's just a simple matter of adding a new memberUID/group to the share listing. We can do a custom dovecot.schema if needed (for say a dovecotShare attribute etc.), as long as we get dovecot a Private Enterprise Number from: http://www.iana.org/cgi-bin/enterprise.pl If Timo hasn't already got one, but I can't see one in: http://www.iana.org/assignments/enterprise-numbers Thoughts? -- Kind Regards, Gavin Henry. Saw some messages before that Time wrote that the problem might be in the Dovecot.conf. What I changes was this: -- cut -- auth default { mechanisms = plain passdb passwd-file { args = /letc/deny.%Ls deny = yes } passdb pam { } userdb passwd { } user = root } -- cut -- Did I forget a '{' somewhere? [Dovecot] POP3 protection

I have some users that I will not allow to use POP3 thru my system, but force them to use webmail. Would it be possible to put an extra option in dovecot.conf to force this: # ----------------------------------------------------------------- # Logon processes # user = <username>,<password> # ----------------------------------------------------------------- user = johndoe,another_secret_password user = mike,trouble_in_paradise If unix user johndoe logs on, he cannot fetch mail thru POP3 for he has a differect password from his logon password. thanx for listening, Jos

An update on my problem dropping root group privileges. I discovered this is a problem for a user if they are in the system group (gid 0). If I remove the user from the system group, and leave them in their primary group, I don't see the error. I've tried setting first_valid_gid to something like 4, hoping dovecot would filter out gid 0, but that doesn't work. Still searching for an answer... Jackie > > Hi all, > > I need your insight.
