[Dovecot] quota question

I'm afraid I'm being a little confused by the whole quota setup with dovecot. I see references to quotas about, but I'm not certain how many of them apply to 1.0rc15. I currently have the conf setup as indicated on http://wiki.dovecot.org/Quota So, in my setup, I'm using Postfix, Maildrop and Dovecot. Mailstore is on NFS. Dovecot is handling the pop3 and imap connects. There seems to be some trouble in the quotas because Courier counts quota one way and Dovecot in a different way. Quotas are stored on a per user basis in the MySQL DB. The trouble I'm getting is that very frequently the quota being reported is quite different from reality. This leads to erroneous over quota delivery errors. So what is necessary to make sure the quotas work as they are supposed to in my environment? [Dovecot] Quota's KB or MB

Hi, Did dovecot ever implement quota's in MB's or has it always used quota's in KB's? I have RC15 using quota's in KB and beta8 somehow using quota's in MB's. Am I going mad? Regards Richard

Ok, I found my problem, I run a backend IMAP/POP3 Server (DoveCot) with a front end IMAP/POP3 Proxy Server (DoveCot). I found that the proxy server was not advertising the fact that it supported QUOTA's. Once I enabled mail_plugins with quota support for the 2 protocols it all worked. Is this correct for a proxy server config. [Dovecot] checking during authentification if imap or pop3 connection

Hello. I'd like to know if there is a way to differ between imap and pop3 during mysql-auth. I would need the possibility to allow some users imap and only allow pop3 to the rest. Hey guys, Running rc15, I have maildir quotas working with deliver - however I seem to be unable to get the maildir quota ignore option to work. Am trying to ignore a user wide directory "Maildir/Filtered/", where detected virii/spam gets sorted to. Does deliver take notice of the maildir ignore option ? Applicable line from dovecot-sql.conf: user_query = SELECT CONCAT('/var/mailstore/',Domain,'/',Partition,'/',Email,'/') AS home, CONCAT('maildir:/var/mailstore/',Domain,'/',Partition,'/',Email,'/') AS mail, 5000 AS uid, 5000 AS gid, CONCAT('maildir:storage=10240:ignore=Filtered') AS quota FROM Mailbox WHERE Email = '%u' AND Status = '1' As a side note is there a configurable variable/template to set the "Your message was automatically rejected by Dovecot Mail Delivery Agent" messages. ok so now I've got Dovecot 1.0rc15 started on the test server. however it seems that the auth-workers don't like their job: auth-worker(default): plain_md5_verify((null)): Invalid password encoding What do I need to do to make their life easier? [Dovecot] maildirsize update error

According to [1], Trash is a reserverd folder name. When moving a message to it, maildirsize should be update with a negative byte count. If I move a message from any folder to Trash, maildirsize gets two lines, one positive and one negative. The problem is that a user can't move messages to Trash while being overquota because the positive entry goes before the negative. I'm using dovecot-1.0rc14. [Dovecot] convert_mail ?

I can't find much documentation on the convert_mail plugin. For example, on the wiki plugins page, clicking on convert goes to <http://wiki.dovecot.org/InterWiki> which is not relevant. Can I use convert_mail to migrate from UW IMAP 2002 mbox format where some mail is in ~/ and the inboxes are in /var/spool/mail? Will it know which files are mbox folders, so it doesn't try to convert other files in the home directories? When are the e-mails converted? Are the old files deleted? Is this configuration snippet valid? default_mail_env = maildir:~/Maildir convert_mail = mbox:~/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u If I can do that, it seems like an easy change. Andrew

[Dovecot] Performance Tuning Recommendations for Dovecot

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has some performance tuning recommendations for Dovecot. We are currently building a series of department e-mail/imap servers and we will be replacing our central core in the coming summer. The department servers are relatively small 100-200 users and the central server is modest - around 7000 accounts. They will be using local filesystem or SAN for the backend storage. So far, enabling hard links seems to be a big win. I'm curious if there are others out there that people have found useful. I am considering putting the indexes on memory disks but I haven't scoped out the requirements for the central system yet (i.e. it is unclear to me how large the index will be for approximately 13 million messages take take up roughly 800GB of disk space.
