I'd cobbled together a real kludge to use the dovecot-shared permissions on the subscriptions file (kinda - only the group permissions, not the user) and was about to post it to the list when I came across the way you'd already handled it. The subscriptions file is stored in the folder pointed to with the "CONTROL" directive - I just put this to a separate place for every user and it works fine. The only thing that's left is getting this added to the Wiki - I don't think anyone's done that yet. Hello all. I am trying to compile Dovecot from source on an AMD Opteron based Sun server running Solaris 10. I ran the configue script with the mysql flag on because I need mysql auth support. I am running MySQL version: 5.0.18 Here is where the make fails. [Dovecot] Realm Stripping

I saw some discussion on this from the middle of last year. Looking through the archives, there didn't seem to be a full solution using a standard dovecot configuration. Did this issue get resolved within dovecot? Will it strip domains from the login presented by the customer. I currently am using dovecot for imap with a webmail system (I strip the domain there before it hits dovecot), but I'd like to replace qpopper with dovecot's pop3, just need to work out the domain stripping bit. Hello, After a long break from Dovecot I finally managed to compile Dovecot-lda on RHEL 4 x86_64 platfrom. For some reason $LIBICONV translates to a @LIBICONV@ on config.status which generates loop for sed. Solution is to manually edit "configure" after autogen.sh. In configure change line s,@LIBICONV@,$LIBICONV,;t t to s,@LIBICONV@,,;t t After this configure finishes succesfully. Tomi

Hi guys, How can i change the login greeting for dovecot whenever someone telnets to it. I tried putting login_greeting = Test Banner at the end of my dovecot.conf.:When i try restart the service it fails. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

My plan is to merge them in some way at some point, but the Sieve code will always be kept out of the main Dovecot tarball as some kind of plugin. The Sieve code is something I don't really want to touch myself, and I don't want it to be included in Dovecot's "1000 EUR for security hole" competition (or whatever it should be called). Since the patch was a bit too large, I didn't accept your original mail to the list.

[Dovecot] new mails don't always show

Hi, I am having some trouble with dovecot (0.99.14) and maildir. Some users are reporting that sometimes, they don't get (pop3, various clients) new mails for a while even though they should. I checked and confirmed this: mails were delivered by MTA (sendmail, procmail). But when the problem existed, the new mails were in cur/, not new/ and dovecot would not report any new messaged to the client. A 'solution' was to send another mail to the same account, and ususally this would end up in new/ On the next fetch, this new message and the new ones from cur/ are downloaded. I also had the same problem with imap and evolution today. My inbox showed as empty but there were many messages in cur/ I could access all other folders without a problem during this period. Again, a simple mail to myself 'solved' this. This behaviour does not happen all the time and I don't know how to trigger/reproduce it. Just the relevant (imho) parts of dovecot.conf: login_process_size = 256 login_processes_count = 64 login_max_logging_users = 1024 default_mail_env = maildir:%h/Maildir client_workarounds = outlook-idle oe6-fetch-no-newmail outlook-pop3-no-nuls everything else is set to default values Any ideas/help?
