[Dovecot] Dovecot development status v1.0
by Raymond Lillard 08 Jun '05

08 Jun '05

Timo, Regarding: http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2005-January/006144.html I would like an estimate of where you are on the path to a released (dovecot-1.0). I have read your statement regarding the -stable series and am wondering when we see the first feature complete -beta of v1.0? Thank for your hard efforts. I have been a happy customer for about a year. Ray

[Dovecot] map-login: Login failed: Plaintext
by Nmap 08 Jun '05

08 Jun '05

Hi I'm running Dovecot 1.0 stable and getting error like this: dovecot: Jun 07 11:51:00 Info: Dovecot v1.0-stable starting up dovecot: Jun 07 11:51:01 Info: auth(default): mysql: Connected to postfix Dovecot: Jun 07 11:47:34 Info: imap-login: Login failed: Plaintext authentication disabled [85.76.231.143] dovecot.conf Authentication processes section looks like: auth default { mechanisms = plain digest-md5 cram-md5 passdb = sql /usr/local/etc/dovecot-mysql.conf userdb = sql /usr/local/etc/dovecot-mysql.conf and the dovecot-mysql.conf driver = mysql connect = host=127.0.0.1 dbname=postfix user=koira password=secret default_pass_scheme = PLAIN-MD5 <and then the querys> I also tried default_pass_scheme = PLAIN and same error occurred.. I'm confused because earlier versions of dovecot has worked so well and smoothly. I've read some dovecot wiki pages and also dovecot-1.0-stable/doc/dovecot-sql.conf files etc. and noticed that the authenticatin has changed... but still getting that error :/ Anybody have any clue? ----------------------------------------------------------------- City.fi:n huippusuosittu kulttipalvelu nyt myös matkapuhelimeesi. [Dovecot] Shared maildir problem: IMAP list archives
by Gergely Kis 07 Jun '05

07 Jun '05

Hello, I try to create IMAP archives for our mailing lists (runned by mailman). I run dovecot 1.0-stable from a recent CVS checkout. The obvious version with mboxes works without problems. However, when I try to use maildir storage I run into the following problem: -a message is sent to the list -mailman calls the external archiver (maildrop) which delivers the mail to a normal mbox (for cross-check) and a maildir. -in the client (Outlook 2003) the mail in the mbox shows up immediately. However the mail in the maildir only shows up in the client after an indefinite time (2 minutes, 10 minutes...etc.). As the thing works with mbox I would rule out Outlook IMAP as a problem. Is there anything I could try to set in the dovecot configuration? I already did the following adjustments: -enabled outlook workaround -changed mail_check_idle_interval to 1 Do you have any idea what could be the problem? Should I start debugging the code, or am I just missing something? Thanks, Gergely PS: I would like to use maildir because it is much easier to backup. Mboxes are a pain in the ass in this respect. The only backup solution I could find was rdiff-backup, which doesn't integrate well with ordinary backup solutions like Bacula.

And some time I get dup messages from other server (I keep messages on server). Thanks! -- Best regards, Andrew Velikoredchanin

[Dovecot] dovecot-auth defunct
by Oliver Schulze L. 06 Jun '05

06 Jun '05

Hi, I'm running dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.1 in RHEL4 and a couple of hours ago, I could not longer login in the imap or pop3 service. I noted that I have a process like this: root 8130 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 16:55 0:00 [dovecot-auth] <defunct> It this ok to have a defunct proccess? I can not kill this process. I have to stop the dovecot service, killall pop3-login and imap-login and then start dovecot again. Is there a solution for this? Any hint? I already enabbled the debug of dovecot-auth. I have my user accounts on a local LDAP using nss_ldap. Many thanks Oliver -- Oliver Schulze L. <oliver(a)samera.com.py>

[Dovecot] Migration from pop3 to imapd
by Stephan Holl 06 Jun '05

06 Jun '05

Dear list, I am planing to set up dovecot-imapd on my production-mail server which currently only runs pop3 via qpopper on debian-sarge. It would be best, if I could only use imapd and use the existing pop3- server (qpopper) as it is. Is this possible? Can the user both use pop3 (qpopper) and imapd (dovecot) in parallel then? Where does dovecot-imapd store its mails? Does it store its mail in mbox-format in ~/mail, where also e.g. pine or mutt can access the mbox? Pretty dumb question I guess, but I want to make sure that nothing goes wrong during installation. It is a must that nothing changes on the server for my users. Best regards and thanks for your help Stephan Holl

[Dovecot] maildir create problem
by Alex 06 Jun '05

06 Jun '05

Hello, I got the error failed to create storage data. I changed some things and now I get the following message: mkdir(/home/mail/domain.nl/info/.Trash) failed: No such file or directory The directory for domain.nl is not created either. Other emailaccounts which were running very good already have no problem. Can anyone give me a direction what the problem could be? thanks, Alex

[Dovecot] Help on dovecot, imap, maildir and subfolders
by Lanhai Li 06 Jun '05

06 Jun '05

I have Fedora Core 2 and dovecot-0.99.10.5-0. I've done nothing to configure it but it seems to have found the Mail dir in my home directory ok and I can connect using IMAP. But I can't create subfolders. If I right click on inbox, there's a 'New Folder...', but if I create one then right click on it, no more 'New Folder...'. So it seems folders can only go one level deep. Many Thanks! Lanhai LI __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
