http://dovecot.org/test/ I've still lots of mails in my INBOX and in this list that I should be looking into.. But here's a release that fixes at least some things. Maybe I'll make another one tomorrow.. Most importantly keyword code was changed a lot. It's now faster and less buggy. The keywords are also finally written into mbox, and keyword changes in the mbox are picked up. So upgrading from Dovecot 0.99.x or UW-IMAP (or reverting back to them) doesn't anymore lose the keywords. Maildir still needs 0.99.x-compatible customflags-file and storing the keywords as a..z flags in maildir filename. Hopefully I'll get that done soon, and then we should be nearing 1.0-alpha1 release :) The new keyword code hasn't been tested much, so this might be less stable than earlier versions. - Renamed oe6-fetch-no-newmail workaround to delay-newmail and changed it to work more like the name says: only newmail notifications are skipped and not only for FETCH command. - LDAP crashfixes - Changed FETCH to return smaller items first. Should fix all kmail and Thunderbird problems. Removed tb-negative-fetch workaround as it shouldn't be needed anymore. - Cache file was breaking constantly with test65 - Blocking passdb fixes and proper RPA realm support patches from Andrey - in-memory indexes should be working again if someone wants to use them for some reason (:INDEX=MEMORY) - gzipped mbox plugin http://dovecot.org/patches/1.0/zlib-plugin.tar.gz - SORT crashfix - Some mbox rewriting fixes (should fix some asserts) - etc.

I have dovecot-1.0-test64 installed on OpenBSD-3.6. It works fine with local password. Now I fail to get dovecot to use MySQL to query for user details. Any help would be very appreciated. [Dovecot] imap segfault in mail-cache.c

Found an imap crash. I'm using the CVS copy from March 23. This is running under Linux, kernel 2.6.11.something. We use mbox over NFS, everything is on the NFS server. There is currently only one dovecot server accessing the mailbox. [Dovecot] Archiving Dovecot format maildir

Hi! It seems that the Maildir format used by Dovecot is a standard, right? Has anyone written something to archive mail in Dovecot format maildirs? I have a script that seems to be for Cyrus IMAP but it doesn't seem to work. I'll write a Perl program if there is nothing available but I am concerned about dovecot's index files - do I need to do anything to get dovecot to rebuild them? Leslie Viljoen

[Dovecot] headers don't match message

the other day i moved all mail functions to a different machine. i copied over my existing maildir's and installed dovecot-stable-20050405. once i had everything moved and dovecot running i checked my mail via imap. all the messages appeared however when i try to read a message the message body doesn't match the header info that's showed in the message list. is this an index problem? or did i corrupt my maildir when i moved it over to another host?

Hello I would like to setup a public namespace with folders under it that are accessiable by certain users. Something like this: Projects---- | |-----03060 | |-----04579 Users should be able to move emails from their inbox to the shared folders, and all user can see the moved email. Here is what I have done so far: 1. I installed dovecot-1.0-0 4 stable20050221.rhf3.at.i386.rpm to a Fedora core 3 machine with Postfix and procmail. 2. Tested mail server - both pop and imap work. 3. Modified dovecot conf. file with the following entry: namespace private { separator = / prefix = inbox = yes hidden = no } namespace public { separator = . prefix = Projects. location = maildir:/var/mail/Projects inbox = no hidden = no } 4. Restart dovecot. Test - imap and pop work. 5. Create group imapu. Add email users to group imapu 6. Create (as root) /var/mail/Projects. Change group to imapu. Change mode 770 7. Touch file dovecot-shared to /var/mail/Projects. Change group to imapu. Change mode 770 8. Make directory /var/mail/Projects/.03060. Change group to imapu. Change mode 770 9. Touch file dovecot-shared to /var/mail/Projects/.03060. Change group to imapu. Change mode to 770 10. Restart dovecot. I start up thunderbird and the Project namespace shows up. I then subscribe to 03060 and get this error: The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Error in IMAP command UID: Invalid BODY[..] parameter: Missing '>' <10240.-1357>'. I click ok and I can move email from the inbox to 03060. The mail shows up in 03060. No other user can then subscribe to 03060. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Rick

[Dovecot] pam problems

Hi, i'm quite new to dovecot. i built it from the stable-1.0 sources. i have the following error messages in syslog when trying to launch dovecot: dovecot: Dovecot v1.0-stable starting up dovecot: auth(default): Unknown passdb type 'pam' dovecot: Auth process died too early - shutting down dovecot: child 373 (auth) returned error 89 i googled a bit, and found some posts on this mailing list describing the same problem, and the answer is that pam support is not compiled in. So i tried to ensure pam support would be compiled: i made sure that i have the proper libs. I work on debian so i did: apt-get install libpam-runtime libpam-modules apt-show-version tells me the version numbers installed: ... libpam-modules/testing uptodate 0.76-22 libpam0g/testing uptodate 0.76-22 libpam-runtime/testing uptodate 0.76-22 libpam-ldap/stable uptodate 140-1 ... my configure line is as follows: ./configure --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --with-ssl=openssl --with-pam when running configure, the only line related to pam is the following: checking for pam_start in -lpam... no and at the end of the configure script i get the following summary: Building with user database modules : static passwd passwd-file checkpassword (modules) Building with password lookup modules : passwd passwd-file shadow checkpassword (modules) So it seems that pam support is not built in. What is the lib i am missing ? I followed Geralds' instructions and dovecot returns "0 0" to stat cmd and "0 messages:" to list. So it thinks there are zero when there are over 40 in "%h/.maildir". I had not changed my config file before reboot so how can this happen? It worked prior to reboot and not after. I get no maillog errors, what next? Thx. [Dovecot] Delimiter of mailbox changes in response to STATUS command...

Hi - I've been using Hastymail with my Dovecot server for awhile now. However, I have noticed that at some point Hastymail stopped showing the number of unseen messages in its folder drop down list, it just shows 0 for the folders that I have it checking for unseen messages. I'm not sure when it broke, but I think it's when I went to one of the testing builds several months ago. I just upgraded to Hastymail 1.3 and Dovecot testing66 today just to see if the issue would go away and it hasn't. So I did some digging and I think I found the cause of the issue... If I send a STATUS command, like the one shown below, Dovecot changes the mailbox delimiter in the result from a "/" to a "."... 2 STATUS "Misc/Spam" (UNSEEN) * STATUS "Misc.Spam" (UNSEEN 3) 2 OK Status completed. I was able to work around this in Hastymail by substituting a "/" for a "." when the result comes back, but it's not that elegant. Any thoughts on why this might be happening in Dovecot? Is it a configuration issue on my part, or a bug? The private namespace in my dovecot.conf has the following: separator = / Thanks, Lawrence
