http://dovecot.org/rc/ + LDAP support compiles now with Solaris LDAP library - IMAP BODY and BODYSTRUCTURE replies were wrong for MIME parts which didn't contain Content-Type header. - MySQL and PostgreSQL auth didn't reconnect if connection was lost to SQL server - Linking fixes for dovecot-auth with some systems - Last fix for disconnecting client when downloading mail longer than 30 seconds actually made it never disconnect client. Now it works properly: disconnect when client hasn't read _any_ data for 30 seconds.

[Dovecot] Errors with a blackberry

Hi - We tried to access a dovecot-0.99.10.7 IMAPS server with a Blackberry 7230. The Blackberry was on loan so we don't have much access to it for testing. We got the following in our logs: Jul 27 12:30:27 xserv imap-login: Login: testuser [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] Jul 27 12:30:27 xserv imap(testuser): IndexID mismatch for binary tree file /home/testuser/mail//.imap/INBOX/.imap.index.tree Jul 27 12:30:27 xserv imap(testuser): IndexID mismatch for binary tree file /home/testuser/mail//.imap/INBOX/.imap.index.tree Jul 27 12:30:27 xserv imap(testuser): IndexID mismatch for modify log file /home/testuser/mail//.imap/INBOX/.imap.index.log Apparently the blackberry didn't see the new mail. Has anyone had any luck with such a Blackberry? hi as i created the rpms: my steps to get a working setup: 1. install postfix,fetchmail,dovecot 2. configure postfix via /etc/sysconfig/mail /etc/sysconfig/postfix 3. run SuSEconfig 4. create a selfsigned cert for ssl (script in /usr/share/doc/packages/dovecot) 5. enable ssl in the dovecot config 6. chkconfig dovecot on 7. rcdovecot start 8. configure fetchmail (not a topic on this list) 9. working setup reached at least for system users hope that helps darix -- irssi - the client of the smart and beautiful people http://www.irssi.de/

[Dovecot] Concerning: in 0.99.10.7 - Maildir: LIST now doesn't skip symlinks

TSS/Dovecot: I saw the recent change in the ChangeLog about the 'subtraction' of the listing of symlinks. The point showed(minus): - Maildir: LIST now doesn't skip symlinks Does this truly mean the functionality was removed? I'd tried doing symlink'd maildirs in 99.10.6 w/ no luck and when I saw this change I hoped this was an addition, as it would be great in lieu of Dovecot's lack of ACL/Shared folders. If it was intented to be ADDED in the recent .7 release, it still doesn't work. If it was pulled (which is strange becauase my .6 release didn't do it), why? Are the .conf directives about it I'm missing by chance? (Didn't notice anything) I'm using Dovecot in combo with horde/imp and it's amazingly faster than courier-imap or uwash-imap, well done! What about the aforementioned ACL/Shared folders? I'm getting into a crux that I may need it and courier-imap-/-cyrus-imap will do my trick but, dovecot smokes them on performance! (Especially with horde/imp's preview/info stuff) Thanks! -- Chris Pickert

[Dovecot] weakness in hash salt generation

Dovecot has routines for password hashing; two of these, crypt_generate and md5_generate, both use sizeof(salt_chars) when reducing a random string to salt. I became suspicious when I noted that all salts generated are composed only of "./01". Unfortunately salt_char is declared static const char * rather than static const char [], and so sizeof(salt_chars) is the size of a pointer. RFC 2060 section 7.2.2 and 7.2.3 says the "The LIST response occurs as a result of a LIST command." and "The LSUB response occurs as a result of an LSUB command." [Dovecot] Local + virtual users using Dovecot 0.99.10.6 (from debian testing)

Hi, I have configured the MTA (exim4) to put the messages for my local users at /var/mail. If the user does not exist as true unix user, it looks at a postgresql database and if the user exists there, it delivers the message at /var/mail/virtual Example: User fred is a unix user, and peter is a virtual user. If i send a mail to fred(a)mydomain.org, the message is stored at /var/mail/fred (im using exim's append for transport). If i send a mail to peter(a)mydomain.org, the message is stored at /var/mail/virtual/peter With the defaul configuration from debian, dovecot is capable serving the local users mailbox (and its working at the moment). Im using only IMAP (i see there is an option for pop3, but im not interested in that atm). I think i know how to change the config file to serve only virtual users using the postgres module. Can anyone tell me how to serve them both at the same time? As I understand it, what i need is to make dovecot try to validate a user againt the local user database (its using pam for that at the moment), and if it fail, try with postres. But i dont know how (or if its possible at all). Thanks.
