http://dovecot.org/test/ Ok, another one. Fixes somewhat rare crashes with transaction log. mbox won't deadlock anymore. read-only mboxes work finally .. I hope .. and then the one compilation fix in lib-ntlm. Updated the Dovecot serving public mailing list archives, hopefully this version stays working instead of just returning internal error after a while.

I hadn't thought about any automounters.. One way to fix it would be to not use home directories in userdb at all, instead set the "mail" setting in it. Then Dovecot would chdir to /tmp. Another fix would be to just delete the code above and make it always chdir to /tmp. Maybe there should be a setting for this? ..

http://dovecot.org/test/ Fixed mbox corruption in some cases where it wrote headers over beginning of message body. Fixed recent flags to work correctly with mbox. Fixed LSUB command to send LSUB replies instead of LIST replies. Then there's NTLM support from Andrey (which I hopefully didn't break) and dovecotpw utility from Joshua. And then some generic status report: For last few weeks I've been trying to make all network I/O non-blocking but that work is going quite slowly. This means that IMAP and POP3 commands which send lots of data to client must be able to stop processing if output buffer is getting full and continue later. Not very difficult, but a bit boring to implement.. This would allow in future to make a single process handle multiple IMAP connections for same user. Although that might not be such a good idea since there's still lock waits and SEARCH command can take a long time.. Anyway, it makes the code less kludgy. Maybe in future we'll have non-blocking lock waits and file I/O too. Adding some support for threading might not be a bad idea either, as long as it doesn't require adding locks all over the place (threads would perform searches, threading, sorting, etc.). Oh, and another thing it enables is processing multiple commands simultaneously. IMAP supports that, although I don't know if any clients do it. So for example a client could send: 1 fetch 1:* envelope 2 status mailbox (unseen) Then Dovecot would process the fetch command until it's output blocks, then it would send the status reply in the middle of it and then again continue the fetching. The nice thing with this is that client can do some "urgent" requests in the middle of some long running commands without the need to create multiple connections to server.

v0.99.10.8 2004-07-30 Timo Sirainen <tss(a)iki.fi> + LDAP support compiles now with Solaris LDAP library - IMAP BODY and BODYSTRUCTURE replies were wrong for MIME parts which didn't contain Content-Type header. - MySQL and PostgreSQL auth didn't reconnect if connection was lost to SQL server - Linking fixes for dovecot-auth with some systems - Last fix for disconnecting client when downloading mail longer than 30 seconds actually made it never disconnect client. Now it works properly: disconnect when client hasn't read _any_ data for 30 seconds.

[Dovecot] md5 password is not working

hi, i setup a new mail server (dovecot-0.99.10.7) with ldap authentication (openldap-2.1.29-2). everything works properly until i switch the user's password from crypt to md5 in the ldap server (of course in this case in the ldap server it stores es {MD5}.... but dovecot gives such error messages: ----------------------- dovecot-auth: Jul 29 17:30:08 Info: ldap(lfarkas(a)x.com): password mismatch ----------------------- it it possible to use dovecot with openldap's md5 password? should I hav to change anything in dovecot's config file if i'd like to use other encrypt schema than crypt? thanks in advance. -- Levente "Si vis pacem para bellum!"

[Dovecot] Problems compiling PHP --with-imap - can't find rfc822.h

I'm trying to add webmail (IMP/HORDE) to my OpenBSD 3.5 mail server (Procmail/Amavid/SA/DCC/Razor/Dovecot 0.99.10.7), which means adding PHP and several other libraries. I'm building PHP 4.3 from the ports tree and, as per the IMP/HORDE readme files, added --with-imap to the makefile. Makeing PHP barfs with a "Cannot find rfc822.h. Please check your IMAP installation." error. I did some digging around and this seems to be part of Courier-IMAP and Mutt, but not part of Dovecot. Can this header file just be grabbed from Courier or Mutt and dropped into /usr/include? Is there something else that's got to be done here?

[Dovecot] dovecot mounts user home dir?

Why does dovecot mount the user home directory whenever the user checks his email (either pop or imap)? Is there a way to disable this? I have indicated in the default_mail_env = mbox:/home/%u/:INBOX=/mail/%u:INDEX=MEMORY. The users are in ldap. Windows users' home is in /home/%u so this is ok but unix users' home are in their local computers and are mounted (via automount) at /d1-data/pcname/username. Even if mounted, the users' home directory isn't used by dovecot since nothing gets written to it. The users only checks his pop mail but still, his home directory gets mounted. Is it possible that dovecot won't try to mount the user's home directory whenever the user checks his mail?
