[Dovecot] Cant log in to my new install :(

Hi, I have just built a copy of dovecot on my sparc based solaris box. I now have dovecot running but when I try to log in using thunderbird or the solaris default package I get bombed out and the following error is generated.... dovecot: Nov 09 21:42:57 Error: child 20780 (imap) returned error 89 dovecot: Nov 09 21:42:57 Error: imap(ppchurch): flock() locks not supported I have set the lock method to fcntl and restarted dovecot but I still get the same error ... anybody else seen this before? [Dovecot] Moving from mbox to maildir?

Hi all, New to the list. I have an updated FC4 box with Dovecot version 0.99.14.4.fc4. My mbox size is about 76 megs and growing rapidly because of several high-volume mailing lists I'm subscribed to. I have noticed that over time the performance of the Evoluion/Spamassassin/Dovecot combo deteriorates. Someone on the Fedora users list suggested I have a look at moving to a maildir setup. Reading the docs I can't really figure out what to. Does anyone have a suggestion how I can safely move my mbox setup to a maildir setup? Much appreciated! Regards, Patrick

I try to authenticate using mysql and I always get access denied. I wrote a program in C that connect to the database and it work. I put the code within driver-mysql.c and it failed!!! My question is do you set up anything (SSL?) that could explain this failure. thanks. [Dovecot] Problem with different case logins

Hi, we have a system (Debian sarge) that uses LDAP for user authentication, via pam. We also have virtual users by using a static userdb [1], using the directory structure /var/lib/dovecot/postoffice/%u (i.e., a directory under /var/lib/dovecot/postoffice with the name of the user). The directory /var/lib/dovecot/postoffice belongs to postoffice:mail. IMAP folders, indexes and stuff go here; normal mail goes into /var/mail/%u. We are using dovecot 1.0alpha3 (upgrading to alpha4 soon). Today we've found a grave problem. Let's suppose you have the login "mylogin.domain.com". If you instead use the login "MYLOGIN.domain.com", the authentication works anyway (which is Ok), but dovecot creates a new directory under /var/lib/dovecot/postoffice with the different case, i.e., /var/lib/dovecot/postoffice/MYLOGIN.domain.com (which is not Ok). Afterwards, you can only access this new folder if you use the login with the caps. A new file (we're using mbox) under /var/mail/ with the new name is also created, though I don't understand yet how. We're using Postfix as MTA, and it always delivers to the lower case name. I hope you can understand the problem. If an user logs with a name with just one letter changed from lower case to upper case, all his/her folders and mail will be seemingly gone. Is this a bug or a feature? If the latter, is it possible to change this behaviour, or at least work around it? [Dovecot] dovecot and passwd-file migration

Hi, Im using dovecot with passwd-file authentication and would like to provide some kind of interface/script to let the users change their password. currently my passwd-file looks like: user@domain.com:{PLAIN}password I would also like to change the password to the same I use in my Linux user(a)domain.com: {MD5}password ??? What do I need to change in the .conf? Las thing, I just cant find a RPM or Source RPM for dovecot compiled with MySQL support. Our office uses MySQL and not Postgres. doing rpmbuild --rebuild --with mysql to the .src.rpm of dovecot does not work. dovecot fails telling he has no idea of what mysql is. If I get a dovecot with mysql rpm I will move from passwd-file to Mysql auth. Hello, I have this error message in logs : dovecot: Nov 07 21:49:34 Error: POP3(manager(a)mydomain.com): Failed to create storage with data: manager(a)mydomain.com dovecot: Nov 07 21:49:34 Error: child 27834 (pop3) returned error 89 When I try to retrieve email of manager(a)mydomain.com kmail says there is no new message although this email box is not empty. I don't understand why. In my dovecot.conf I have default_mail_env = maildir:/home/Courrier/%d/%n with mutt on the server I can read all emails in /home/Courriel and for example : /home/Courrier/mydomain/manager/ Does anyone have an idea where I have to look for ?
