[Dovecot] Disable multiple POP3 logins

Hi, With some POP3 servers, when you login more than once, the POP3 server says "Err: multiple login". How can I achieve that with dovecot ? For example: I login to my POP account that is hosted by the ISP: $ telnet pop.x.com 110 Trying x.x.x.x... Connected to pop.x.com (x.x.x.x). Escape character is '^]'. +OK <25628.1113981451@bne022mfe> USER mb13536d +OK PASS testcase +OK LIST +OK 1 4608 . STAT +OK 1 4608 While that pop3 login is still active, I run another telnet session to login again to the same account. $ telnet pop.x.com 110 Trying x.x.x.x... Connected to pop.x.com (x.x.x.x). [Dovecot] assertion failed in 1.0-stable

Hello everybody, I get the following assertion error with dovecot 1.0-stable when accessing a large folder: file istream-raw-mbox.c: line 383 (istream_raw_mbox_get_body_size): assertion failed: (rstream->body_offset != (uoff_t)-1) There is no error when using dovecot 0.99.14. Any ideas ? [Dovecot] message status changed from new to old on read

Hi. I'm new to IMAP, but just tried uw-imapd and then dovecot in conjuction with offlineimap. I'm using Debian package version 0.99.14-1 and have my mail in mbox format. One of the first things that annoys me about both programs is that as soon as you read a mailbox over imap, the imapd changes all "new" messages to "old". It seems to have the assumption that the IMAP client is "reading" the messages, but particularly in the case of offlineimap, this assumption is not justified: I might not read the message on the client on which I've just synced, I might read it on the server or another client. So I would like dovecot to leave the mailbox alone, and leave it up to the client to write any changes to message status. Is there any option to dovecot that would accomplish this? While experimenting, I noticed that dovecot sometimes doesn't notice changes to the status made directly on the server. For example, if I create new mbox mailbox with one message (initially "new"), and access it with imap (using mutt in this example), it shows up "new" in the client. When I next access it with imap, it shows up "old", because dovecot modified the status as described above. If I then run mutt directly on the mailbox and change the status back to "new", then access it with imap, it still shows up "old". If I then remove the .imap directory containing the caches, it is back to "new". I assume that dovecot is supposed to pick up changes made directly on the server, right? Thanks for your help, Andrew

[Dovecot] minimial maildir++ quota for dovecot-0.99

Hello, I'm using dovecot-0.99.14, and I wonder if anyone has created patch for *minimal* Maildir++ support. By minimal Maildir++ support, I mean the following: (1) New messages created by dovecot will include the ,S=nnnnn string in the unique identifier so that Maildir++ clients don't have to stat the file to know the size. (2) Dovecot will append to the maildirsize file when a message is deleted or added. If maildirsize gets larger than the 5120 limit, then just delete it and let someone else recalculate the quota. My goal isn't full Maildir++ support in dovecot, but just to make it play nicely with my Maildir++ aware delivery agent. (If someone has full Maildir++ support, I'd be glad for that too!) If what I describe above doesn't exist, I am interested in paying someone to make this quick patch. E-mail me off list if you are interested. Thanks, David

[Dovecot] dovecot ssl problem

Hi there, I am having a weird problem with dovecot and ssl. If I am accessing the dovecot imap server with for example sylpheed-claws or evolution, everything works fine. If it is accessed via windows either by outlook or thunderbird, we get occassional timeouts. It's working fine for a few hours, then for 5 to 20 minutes, every attempt to connect from the outside results in "Connection to server timed out". Added to that, the problem only arises, if a direct SSL connection to Port 993 is used. Using Sylpheed with STARTTLS to Port 143 from the outside works fine as well. It's not a firewall Problem, since port 993 and 143 are open, the config files have been checked over and over for 2 weeks and are good as well. Dovecot log says: imap-login: Apr 20 13:26:05 Warning: SSL_read() syscall failed: Connection timed out [83.104.224.142] Doing uber verbose output doesn't bring up any extended information, syslog stays clean as well. The Problem is not directly reproducable by a certain action, it just arises from time to time. There can be 3 working days without problems, or 6 timeouts > 20 minutes within one day. System is Debian Sarge unstable with a custom 2.6.10 Kernel. During the timeouts, mail is still received and put into the users mailboxes by exim, it's just that you cannot access the imap server for approx 20 minutes. Dovecot version is 0.99.14 Regards Alexander Heuer

Hi, I have some problems with my connection from outside to POP3/IMAP... As far as I can see every should be set corret. Currently I use version 0.99.11-1.FC3.4 installed from an RPM-file. I tried to debug the signin process. It's always saying bad password... What encryption can DoveCot read? Currently my password is encrypted with md5crypt... Regards Anders

[Dovecot] Fetching POP3 Mail with Dovecot

Hi, I have a small personal server here which I've managed to successfuly install the dovecot server onto. What i'm hoping to do is download POP3 mail from 1 or 2 accounts using the dovecot server so I'll be able to read all from the dovecot server... Is this possible? thanks! Eurig

Hello, I'm wondering if the following situation is valid (though I think it isn't since I still cannot authenticate with ldap pass/userdb on test67 running on FreeBSD-5.3). "dovecot-auth: ldap(branch): No password in reply" Is this Freebsd error , or active directory is not configured correctly or dovecot bug? regards Askar
